The U50 is a 5V 2A directly heated rectifier, so should be good for both versions. Got ya on the 274b, and that makes sense.

Curious, what other rectifiers have you tried?

I owned a Gungnir as my previous DAC, and I imagine that would pair incredibly well with the Aegis. That's a tough call on those two, but I think I would go with the Aegis and Gungnir myself.

I have seen black and grey plates, that are welded with a square getter, that are the earlier version. Then there is the grey stapled plates with O or Square Getter for the latter version. I have the earliest version with black welded plates and square getter and it's a killer rectifier.

I feel the Caldera Closed has a larger stage. As for sound quality, the CC have better balance top to bottom, more detail/resolution and texture, as well as speed. The VC were my daily driver for the past two years, and ever since the CC entered my life, the VC have been collecting dust...
