    ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship

Welcome to the family ☺️ Enjoy the AO, they are something very special (and spatial) 🤣🤤 And beware, I started like you (with CO) and I am now a ZMF addict, later on got the AO, and a few weeks ago the AC. Can I ask what is your chain? 🧐💡🎧

    ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship

I do like the AO for metal, but I usually listen more technical-metal. For that genre, I prefer the speed and clarity of the CO better. It suits it better imo. However if I am listening to a slower pace metal, like nu or black, the AO gets the best of them. Same as hip-hop or classical...

Same as me. I've the auteur lambskin and they are on my AO 🤤 Got the Bokeh hybrid. They are nice. But not the Bokeh protein 😔 Got like 9-10 pads but none of these.. I will stick with the thin lambskin for now.

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

I have experienced that glow many times with some tubes. When the heater warms up, it lights up brightly, but it goes away in just a second. More than that may be a symptom of malfunctioning.

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

You mean the blue? Or the red? The blue glow seen in vacuum tubes is called **"Cherenkov radiation."** This phenomenon occurs when charged particles, such as electrons, travel through a dielectric medium (like the glass of the tube) at a speed greater than the phase velocity of light in that...

Here we go: I did not find any kind of acid mark or any other way to identify it Thanks in advance ☺️

Which of the numerous pads for the ac have the biggest bass slam? The caldera thin ultra? I've been testing the bokeh hybrid, the bokeh and caldera suedes. The caldera suede was very pleasant but still had the sense of loosing some impact. What's your opinions? Thanks in advance ☺️

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

Well thanks to let me know. This only means the very little I know about history of tubes and their factories and how much I've been lied (maybe not on purpose) by sellers. I'll post pictures of the first "Mullard 6v6gt" later. Thanks for the information ☺️💡

    ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship

I never had an issue with treable with the AO. Neither with the 3k region. Mine are the zebra ltd. I also went with auteur pads. They sounded the best after swapping many. The universe are the 2nd.

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

I was curious about it too. I've been told telos-audio is doing nice fuses, but I am skeptical of any improvements. And it's 75$ plus shipping... Very well.. I have done some listening and took some notes. Let's start with Mullard 6v6gt t shaped. They are tight bass, slightly on the warm side...

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

Does anyone have a background in tube testing? I am starting to pile up tubes, basically ecc88, ecc80, 6v6, some 5670 and 6n6p. And I am starting to get curious about measuring and testing myself. Is there a thread in headfi? (Probably yes) But I am more looking into people experiences with it...

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

Yes I will do a good comparison when time allows me. Just busy weekend. I will try to make as good as possible. But consider it all depends on preamp tubes, headphones, and hrtf. For instance I've some Mullard 12au7 10m from Blackburn, Amperex 7316 bugle boy... And the stack goes up and up...

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

Are those 12au7 Phillips / Amperex long plate? I have no experience with Ganelex 6v6 but I've got quite a few Mullards (various types), Mazdas... Imo best I heard is the mullards stcc wd arrow. But it depends on the driver's as well. It's about combos imho.

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

Yes, primarily first option. We exchange brands. But in some situations you can exchange even types. This happens for instance with the 12au7 (e82cc) and some people on this thread who is using e80cc's instead. Or the 6v6 that has its the g and gt version. I would recommend you to get to know...

Also very different.. I wouldn't dare to make my choice based on best deal reaching this point. I would go for what appeals to me sound wise.

Feliks Audio Echo (new budget OTL amp)

You can definitely do that once you figure out the output you need on the echo to feed on the SS. I try to feed the SS with same lvl as the DAC does. Sometimes even a little less, so I can have more freedom of adjustability in the SS. But once you find how hot the signal outputs on the echo, to...

    Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier

I've got a set of the last two the 6v6 and 6v6gt. The first three seem newer as that shape was used in later iterations of the gt. The 6v6 are a bit softer and mellow and 6v6gt are a bit cleaner and punchier. Not huge difference though. I would get the 6v6gt, but ultimately depends on you. The...

Well, with the arrival of the new zmf purpuratus and some more tubes I can definitely say I'm done (for now 🤦‍♂️). Also, shoutouts for pine tree audio and their transparent selector for such a great device to switch between my otl and the otc. Build like a tank, solid silver teflon...

The (Un)Official Amp Thread For ZMF Headphones

Have anyone tried already tube rolling with the aegis? If so, which tubes have you found to work better for your setup? (I am mostly interested in headphones-tubes pairing). Thanks!

They really are, I also have some Mazda 6v6gt st and they are not just super great tighting the low end but also enhancing soundstage. You can also try the mullards gt version t shape. They are cheaper than Mazdas and the presentation is very close to the Mazdas.

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

This is just my view with my limited hardware. The atrium and caldera behave differently with different amps. However my experience tells: on OTC atrium needs a little less volume to reach same output as caldera. On OTL atrium needs a little more volume to reach same output as caldera. On SS...

Well well well this is going to be a very sentimental post. I couldn't really extract the beauty of the ac purpuratus with my potato phone camera. But in person they really look fantastic. I will try later on with a real camera and different positions to avoid reflections. Sound wise they...
