The Stax thread (New)

i Have STAX amp ?
you really don't need to leave it on all the time... i don't know what caps you have in the amp but usually they are good for 10000 hours and degrade with time like the other components in the amp. If the tubes fail maybe some components will be stressed. You can burn your house down too.Just...- green0153

Stax crinkle noise?
Well it depends on the noise that it's making. Try to put pressure on the cups while having headphones on the head and see if the noise is the same. Or just remember if you heard the noise while not moving the head or the headphones. If second is the case than something is wrong with the...- green0153

Is it just me or STAX is not so popular in Head-Fi?
Some Lambdas whatever you find on ebay or here and eXSata DIY amp. This setup will sound really good with a decent source. You will spend on the amp the price of a cheap Stax amp but have a much better bang for the buck.- green0153

You have to pass some time on the forum and eventually you will end up with a Stax system when you see how much people appreciate the headphones.Electrostatic headphones simply are strange and alien to someone that isn't in the audio circle because few people have seen them. But it's true that...- green0153

Does Anyone Else Think The Stax 007 Has A Constricted Soundstage?
Yes it's a frequency issue.Stax played a lot with diffuse field equalization and similar stuff to get out of the head sound and with the 007 they stopped and got a wonderful headphone. I like a big lambda type headstage but after 10 min of listening it really doesn't matter because I...- green0153
