(Blind) test 2 DAC's
Hi all, So I bought the DF Black DAC to pair with my Shure SE535 but I am not hearing any noticeable difference against my built-in laptop DAC. Only less noise which was already very minimal and I doubt one can hear such quiet noise when listening to music. Hence I want to buy something like...- 16610

Thoughts on Shure True Wireless Secure Fit Adapter
Folks, The previously Bluetooth adapters from Shure kind of sucked big time, this time they dropped something pretty nice, at least it looks good and it has BT 5.0. Portable Bluetooth DAC/AMP
Hi I'm looking for a portable Bluetotoh amp/dac to use between my Shure SE535 and my iPhone/Mac. Size wise I'm looking for a credit-card size AMP or a little bit bigger. But before I'm pulling the trigger on one, I'd like to hear your opinions. For example, does Bluetooth affect sound quality...- 16610

DAC-AMP for HD650
What about the XDUOO TA-20 from Ali? And with a separate DAC like the Cambridge DACmagic 100?- 16610

Jotunheim + hd800s
Friends, I am about to pull the trigger on a good occasion hd800s. It will be my first pair of open cans. I can buy them together with the HDVD 800 at a fairly OK price. They're made for each other so they must be the best loving partners :) But honestly, my technical knowledge is rather thin...- 16610

Watch this HD800 vs HD600
Thanks for all the valuable comments. Of course you wouldn't hear what the headphones actually sound. But I can hear one is brighter and has more pronunciation on specific tones.. while the other sounds more flat. When I listened to the HD600 on this video, and then the HD800, I felt like I...- 16610

Watch this HD800 vs HD600
Of course you cannot see the level of detail of 4K on a 1080p screen. But you can definitely see on a 1080p video that the 4K screen has much, much more details.. Set this video to 1080p and check it out...- 16610

Watch this HD800 vs HD600
So how come I could hear much clearer and present vocals in the HD800 video? While the HD600 sounds more flat. From 11:50 in the HD800 video you can hear the kick on the plate very crispy. Now hear the same in the HD600 video at 8:35 In the HD600 video you can hear it too, but it's like it's a...- 16610

Watch this HD800 vs HD600
I can definitely relate to that. Instinct wise you'd say it's complete bull. But both cans are placed on the same block with microphones. Both have a different sound stage and level of details. Now let's say you take a simple video camera (a GoPro), and take a video of two televisions. One is...- 16610

Watch this HD800 vs HD600
Hello friends, Sure lot of you know this guy on YouTube called Z Reviews? He has done a bunch of sounds demo's which at first I thought doesn't make a lot of sense. But actually it does help me hearing the big differences between some cans without actually having them on my head. I plugged in...- 16610

Dragonfly Black 1.5 disappointed
You are always satisfied before you didn't experience something better. So in that case I went with the Dragonfly. Also because of this review: https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/3/15913270/shure-se535-headphones-review So my curiosity made me buying this unit. But I will most likely return it.- 16610

Dragonfly Black 1.5 disappointed
Friends, After reading a lot positive things about this unit -and after reading many, many negatives about smartphone dacs (and even the internal dac of high-end laptops like the MacBook Pro are considered rubbish)- I decided to buy the Dragonfly Black 1.5 to pair with my Shure SE535. I'm...- 16610

Amp/DAC Decision Help
There's also people who say that balanced output mostly makes sense when using a long headphone cable. In an environment with very little magnetic fields where the listener sits close to the amp with a fairy short cable, a balanced output 'd be just a waste of money. And if there might be a...- 16610

Amp/DAC Decision Help
I agree 100% . Versatility is key. But the Bifrost dac is not a balanced dac. So the "source" aint balanced. Yet we didn't reach consensus whether this makes the whole chain unbalanced. Maybe some experts can chime in here... ?- 16610

Amp/DAC Decision Help
damn. This whole balanced desire makes it really expensive. Maybe I'll skip over balanced and just go with a Vali 2... And by-the-way: this bad ass is not even balanced itself :dt880smile: Unbalanced: These crazy headphones might blow your mind- 16610

Amp/DAC Decision Help
Fair enough. Though I don't live in the USA so buying at Schitt will bring shipping costs along. Yet, everything from China gets delivered for free :) Just curious. Back on topic. As for dac/amp solutions. Since we both are going to connect the unit to our laptop/PC via USB, and we both want to...- 16610

Amp/DAC Decision Help
Fair enough.... I did some research and this whole balanced thing does make sense. I went on Aliexpress and I'm just blown away by the amount of amps and dacs. It's pretty sick. This one is quite expensive, but there's many cheaper ones out there: Click What is the general consensus here on...- 16610

DAC confusion.
That's a lot of money for a DAC IMO. What about the stock Modi 2 Uber for $150? Would it make sense to hook this thing up to, let's say, the Valhalla2? What tulip cable 'd you recommend between these units?- 16610

DAC confusion.
Massive thanks for this comprehensive explanation! My first instinct said that it would be a bit weird to hook up a full size high quality AMP to a DAC like the Dragon Fly. What I meant is buying the DAC and AMP separately but at the same time of course. The reason is what you already explains...- 16610
