Tansio Mirai Impressions Thread
Great review of a great IEM. The X has everything I like in an IEM. If it were a tad smaller it would be perfect, but sound is perfect for sure.- kmhaynes

The PENON official thread
The TSMR X has forced me to make it a near-permanent fixture in my ears! Assuming you are saying this, how is the Voltage better than the X, at nearly twice the price? Thx!- kmhaynes

ISN Earphones impression thread. New ISN H60!
Campfire Dorado 2020 has loads of clear deep bass, but its a bit dull from 2500K and up -- rather dark sound. Tansio Mirai X 10th anniversary has good deep bass, and well-balanced across the whole spectrum.- kmhaynes

Solid-state drivers - the future of portable sound to headphones?
Isn't "solid state drivers" just an umbrella name for Planar Magnetic and possibly Balanced Armature drivers?- kmhaynes

ikko OH10
I'm right there with you! If the OH10 was a tad more resolving, they would be my end game set. The only other IEM I have right now is the Tansio Mirai 10th Anniv. (TSMR X), which are amazingly clean, expansive, deep clear bass.- kmhaynes

What were your mistakes you made buying your first or buying any IEM?
There is also the mistake of assuming I can find an IEM that can replicate the sound of a full size HP. I prefer open HP, so very few IEM's can give that sense of openness and space, but I also many times prefer the isolation of an IEM. It's just a different listening experience.- kmhaynes

What were your mistakes you made buying your first or buying any IEM?
Sorry my previous post was off-topic -- couldn't resist! My mistakes fall in the "trusting reviews" category: 1) assuming their audio terms mean the same thing to me; 2) believing reviews are "objective", when they are mostly personal preference; 3) not willing to be patient and try many IEMs...- kmhaynes

What if Bob Ross was really a serial killer and the paintings are of where he buried the bodies? 🤣 My daughter spent hours watching him paint on TV -- she is now a watercolor artist !!- kmhaynes

All-Balanced Armature IEMs (Discussions & Comparisons)
I was an Etymotic fan for many years (ER4, -4P, -4XR, etc.) but I was usually disappointed with the lack of speed with faster drums, double-kicks, as well as the often lack of air movement for realistic drum sounds. Hybrids became my model of choice.- kmhaynes

I haven't heard the Turbo, but I've heard several all-BA IEMs that have good sub-bass extension (can reach down to 20hz or so) but that struggle to keep up with the speed of double-kicks drums of faster metal. It's hard to describe in words, but when you hear it, you know it.- kmhaynes

The PENON official thread
Depends on what you want to hear. I haven't heard the Turbo, but not many all-BA units can produce bass with air movement, "slam," etc., which is important to get realistic drum reproduction. Imaging, instrument separation and placement, resolution, etc, is great, but without realistic bass...- kmhaynes

This is the Penon Turbo, right? It looks VERY similar to the TSMR X, esp the switch set, except for the on/off switch.- kmhaynes

Diminishing returns
Again, personal tastes + available money to spend are biggest factors. I have a $200 Ikko OH10 that I like better than my $1,500 original retail Campfire Solaris 2020 (which is for sale, BTW!), so my personal tastes dictate that cost-to-satisfaction ratio. It will be the opposite for other...- kmhaynes

Look! MOONDROP's First HiFi Smartphone, MIAD01
I took a chance on a $20 on Amazon, and it is amazingly good sounding. I can compare a 3.5mm jack cable with usb c dongle to the 4.4mm cable with the 4.4mm dac dongle -- sound is at least 50% better to me.- kmhaynes

Look! MOONDROP's First HiFi Smartphone, MIAD01
I used LG phones (V20, 30 & 40) for several years b/c of excellent on-board audio processing, even out of 3.5mm jack. But my phone carrier (V) decided to drop LG phones and I had to shift to Samsung -- I adjusted.- kmhaynes

Look! MOONDROP's First HiFi Smartphone, MIAD01
I've used a Samsung S20 5G for over 2 years now as my DAP, using PowerAmp app as my library / player, which has an excellent output via usb-c. Combining a 4.4mm balance cable to my IEMs with a usb-c to 4.4mm dac/amp/dongle, I'm getting excellent sound with not only my FLAC files, but even the...- kmhaynes

Campfire Audio Chromatic Series
It shouldn't be a surprise that some songs are hot-sounding. In the past 5-10 years, recording engineers have taken it upon themselves to record songs at the loudest possible level, and even allow clipping. They assume so many people are just streaming at 128-256K and listeners don't have...- kmhaynes

Tansio Mirai Impressions Thread
Looking at the "filter" and noticing that two of the 3 slots have a rubber gasket, I experimented and pulled the piece out of the right IEM and flipped it around so that going in only 1 of the rubber gaskets is inside the cavity. TBH I'm not sure I could tell much difference between the 2 ears...- kmhaynes

Campfire Chat - Official Campfire Audio 2024 Thread!
I do NOT have the Stealth, but IMO the Solaris 2020 sounds closer to the Grado HP model: pretty energetic through-out with a mid-bass kick that is more prominent than sub-bass, mids that are rich, and a treble semi-spike around 2-4K that can make it sound hot to some people with treble...- kmhaynes
