Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread
I’m mostly speakers but the Utopia22 also get a run. Usually I hear differences in performance quite a bit more than on headphones. Thanks!- AussieMick

Right, my wallet is opening, cheers. Is there a general consensus on 12V vs 15V?- AussieMick

Chord Mojo 2 Thread ___ [product released January 31, 2022 -- starting on page 95 of thread]
I’ve owned two Polys, a Mojo and a pair of Mojo2. They’ve all been flawless. Qobuz, SS card, AirPlay…all brilliant. I can honestly say I’ve never had a technical problem, but I do acknowledge some do. It’s also perhaps maybe true that we hear more bad news stories on forums than good news...- AussieMick

HiFiMan Susvara
I wonder how many people have heard all of these at home, for an extended period (a month minimum) at the same time? It’s like we’ve built summit-fi lists that aren’t based in any practical experience of how they sound relative yo each other, and more importantly, what they’re like to live with...- AussieMick

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
I genuinely hope it doesn’t “scale” in any way whatsoever, and that it’s best can be achieved with a great deal less investment in electronics than the OG. That would be a big leap forward. I’ve stated before my disdain for the idea of scaling because it indicates we’re not getting the most...- AussieMick

What about how individually transparent devices work as a part of a system, which is actually how we use them? And onto transducers, not one of them is without very, very high distortion when compared to the electronics. What hope is there of maintaining your chain of absolute transparency...- AussieMick

Yes, but it doesn’t take into account taste, experience, the differently formed and developed hearing mechanisms from person to person…what good is transparency if one doesn’t actually enjoy it? Imagination is a biological function. The pursuit of measurements of all things external to the...- AussieMick

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
How do those two sets of measurements compare to all of the other measurements out there? And, more importantly, if a heap of Susvara owners are happy (which judging from this thread they clearly are) does it even matter? Do you own Susvara? Do you plan to? Have you spent many hours listening...- AussieMick

microZOTL 3 by Linear Tube Audio. True High End Audio.
Yep. TT2 and MScaler into MZ3. On Utopia 2022 the difference was very, very small. MZ3 brought a little more to the upper midrange, so voices and string instruments had a bit more texture. The trade off was in smoothness and quietness. With the LCD5 however, I enjoy the combo much more. Would...- AussieMick

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
That assumes this forum has a certain degree of clout that it doesn’t. The proof of that is that people have been saying high priced things are a ripoff for years, yet the prices still go up. There are a lot of headphone buyers who’ve never posted here or even visited the website. Hifiman will...- AussieMick

But that’s a personal value judgement, not an absolute universal truism. Is it as solidly constructed as some others? No. But for some people that’s quite okay.- AussieMick

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
The price is what it is. You can afford it or you can’t. Headphone companies are not charities and they’re not (I assume) altruistic enough to offer products at the lowest possible prices. Complaining exposes a lack of taste and manners. “It’s more than I want to spend so it’s outrageous” is...- AussieMick

Focal Utopia General Discussion
Interesting. I moved from OG to Nutopia and I'm very happy. I like it’s sound more (from HMS/TT2) and I very much enjoy the changed looks. However, plugging OG into Arche I very much preferred it over the Nutopia/Arche. They’re both such magnificently flexible headphones!- AussieMick

Agreed, with the addition that it seems headphone dependent. On my Focal Radiance it becomes too bass bloated, but on Utopia it’s just lovely.- AussieMick

CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE
Slightly different take, but at the time it was released, DAVE was so far ahead of the pack that I’m not sure we can call it 8 year old tech. Maybe it’s two year old teach? It’s taken such a long time to be caught up with. Yes, there are (much) more expensive DACs that I suppose do better it...- AussieMick

Poly and SD card is the best sounding option. No cables, no noise, all on battery, nothing travelling through your phone. I don’t think it’s possible for a USB connection to sound as hood.- AussieMick
