Audio-gd R2R DAC Thread
I would like to keep the opamps as they are, replacing them would be out of budget. I referenced some of the work on this thread when doing my work. I can see now that I missed this step. https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/next-project-adcom-gda-700.722369/ See posts #19 and #121...- Nayyte

Audio-gd R2R DAC Thread
R-1 NOS doesnt have optical, Adcom doesn't have usb There are three opamps in series for each channel, each one is bypassed and the final stages are with wima green caps (factory). In order, 120pf, 0.022uf, and 47pf. There is enough room to replace these but it is not spacious. Overall I think...- Nayyte

Audio-gd R2R DAC Thread
A month ago I finished rebuilding an Adcom GDA-700 DAC which is a dual PCM1702 chip design, full 8x oversampling, 20bits. Pretty much the same day I finished rebuilding it, I knew that this was more in line with my tastes rather than the R-1NOS. The PCM1702 dac is leaps more resolving and the...- Nayyte

Audio-Technica ATH-WP900
Anyone here tried the ADX5000 or other AT cans? Did you like them over the WP900? My pair is getting long in the tooth and I'm sensing the bass is getting fatiguing somehow. Even though I've enjoyed them for over 3 years now. Maybe I need new pads? They aren't worn out really but they have at...- Nayyte

Arctic Cables Discussion Thread
First of all, the quality is very awesome. Its light and really well made. Sound wise it's a better experience entirely than stock but the WP900's don't change much with cables. Here's hoping that AT will make some more cans for me to try with this cable.- Nayyte

Been having a seriously hard time enjoying my Auteur from a comfort perspective recently. So tonight I said screw it (four of them actually :sunglasses:) and I removed my new crestent strap and intalled the "old style" one. Holy crap so much better clamp and fit for my head. My head is wide and...- Nayyte

Eufonika (Valve amps from Poland)
I've held my tongue for two weeks but no longer! I'm patiently awaiting for my H22M from Mr. Wieslaw. I opted for XLR ins and outputs. I also requested two 9 pin sockets as my drivers instead of two octal sockets, to suit my new appreciation for the 12at7 variant. Couldn't be more excited.- Nayyte

I'm sure there are better organized and mastered editions of this but this is what I have and it's pretty great. -

I took a break from listening to jazz for a while and tonight I slipped on my auteur OG and started up the playlist. INSTANTLY reminded why these are the KINGS of jazz listening. So blissfully dynamic and palpable. I listen to more modern jazz fusion and these are absolutely delightful. Current...- Nayyte

Comment by 'Nayyte' on listing 'FiiO FD3 Pro'
If $2k is your budget then you might as well get the 27RE or Mk2. The regenerate power supply might sound good but not a whole thousand $$$ more good. Plus you can get a brand new unit.- Nayyte

This album suprised me. I got to it initially after searching for "Slipping through my fingers". The rest of the album is actally really engaging and never gets repetitive. -

Ha! I have both right now and I can comment a little, though I'm not sure if I have the right amp for the ether 2. I have a few pairings to try yet so we'll see. I've tested the ether on the schiit mjolnir 2 so far. It's a very flat plannar sound with good texture and timbre. For me I wouldnt...- Nayyte

Yeah questyle is an odd brand. I'm not sure why any sane person would buy their totl amps. I suppose if you've never heard a high end DAC then they are a great combo. But the fact that the DAC portion of their units are all pretty much the same doesn't sit well with me. My 400i is an amazing SS...- Nayyte

100% my auteur OG has the best tonality/timbre on tubes. BUT, I believe that there is something about pairing an intimate sound stage headphone with a wide staging amp that can "strain" the presentation making it less ideal. I have a questyle cma400i that I modded to have external rca input. The...- Nayyte

Auteur OG really benefits from the control and tightness of SS amps. So much so that I'm currently questioning if it's worth it to trade all that for the extra mid range euphonics that you get from tubes. The OG drivers are already fast and tonaly sweet that I think I might prefer SS with them...- Nayyte
