DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

Not so fast, the resulting benchmarks when comparing 660 vs 665 a bit all over the place and it depends highly on the use case of the comparative benchmark tests used. When you look closely in the test results, it is not so easy to pick out a clear winner here, they are very close overall and...

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

Hilarious!... I want to change my sound signature to have more Spain, but less Portugal, and Italy could also need a slight push. But Germany is, as always, way to detailed, whereas the Netherlands are too flat and boring. Austria though shines with a lot of timber!

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

Yes, I fully agree. Physical buttons and a "hold" switch/slider. These were and still are very good interfaces in terms of usability. You can have dry or wet fingers, doesn't matter, you can operate in darkness and without looking on a lit screen, and physical buttons don't care if you wear...

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

For me the leather case solved the problem... and yes, I found it also a bit annoying that I constantly press one of the three side buttons when I, metaphorically speaking, "just look at the device". They were way too easy to trigger. (but still better than any of these touch sliders on...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

John Butler aka John Butler Trio is totally worth diggin'! >> A genre crossover of Folk-Rock, Blues-Rock, Funk-Rock, Reggae, Bluegrass, and Roots-Rock from down under. It's steel string guitar heavy with lots of drive... simply fantastic. On his early album, at least listen to "Ocean", an epic...

I know at least the Android based one can display lyrics, the Mango OS player I don't know.

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

If iBasso plays it well, then they already should have plans on updating the 260 to Android 13. The DX260 is only 6 months on the market and in a few months, after the DX180 hype train left the station and the iBasso devs have more time and resources, it would be a good timing for an update. I...

    New Topping DX9 AK4499 - 100% Balanced??

Solved the cracking noise problem for good. After many hours of trying out everything, because even when playing around with buffer sizes, still the cracking sound appeared, but much less often, so I was too quick to state that I solved it earlier. Now, the final suspect was identified and it...

Very good decision  ...and it's not that you decided to keep old garbage, the DX170 is still to be taken very seriously in it's class. I personally like what iBasso does with its DAPs.

    Foobar2000 output settings unclear

Oh man, thanks again for this perfect hint! Of course I installed the Topping drivers with the DX9 connected 🤦‍♂️ ... a classical user problem . Today I'll try these drivers again with the correct setup method. Let's see.

DX260 Digital Audio Player, a New avenue to your music. Preorders have started. Easily replaceable battery. NEW Firmware Update! 2.02

For me, I unfortunately don't have a ZMF headphone yet, sorry. ...but I listen right now with the DCA E3, which is known that it's a demanding headphone when it comes to source gear, and I'm happy to report that together with the DX260, it's an utmost joy. Sure, I have to crank up the volume...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

I'm with both devices on high gain, but in the end I'm happy that my DX260 can drive the E3 absolutely sufficiently. And otherwise, the E3 are really wonderful cans, I'll keep them for a while.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

So, now the next head scratcher with the E3... How can it be that with my 7 Watt Topping DX9 I have to go between -45 to -15 dB to reach a medium to comfortably loud enough playback, but with my iBasso DX260, which has max. 1 Watt it is exactly the same region, 50-80 of 100... and it sounds...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Gracias! :beerchug: In the end, I am still surprised how powerhungry the E3 is, when you have a really potent headphone amp at your hands like the DX9, and still end up nearly maxing it out.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

I know, thanks, I work in that field accidentally, but I'm not an electronic engineer obviously  I was not referring to dB itself but to the underlying power scaling which is most likely linear and not log, because you can hear the clicks of the solid state amplifier units switching...

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

-99 dB is near zero output loudness. 0 db is max. So we have a 0-100 scale in -dB units which can be translated, step wise, in % and then reversed. -15 dB would be 85% of power used according to my understanding. When you look at the spec sheet of the DX9, it outputs: 10000mW × 2 @16Ω THD+N<1%...

For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions

Got mine today. OOTB impression, yes, they indeed sound pretty open, but I don't want to go into any more detail since I only have a few hours on them... ...but holy moly, they need some serious juice and they truly need the provided headroom of the rather powerful Topping DX9, I have to crank...
