SAEQ Appreciation & Impressions Thread
It is a public holiday in Singapore today to mark Eid. I am still suffering from jet lag and my medications do not help either. So, there is nothing to do but have some quality time with the Hyperion Ge. :) Today I decided to pair the Yamaha YH-5000SE with the Hyperion Ge. The YH-5000SE is...- Kiats

[follow up thoughts on the Morpheus: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/raal-ribbon-headphones-srh1a.890603/post-17582057] Have listened to the same tracks from QQ Music on the SR-1a via the TI-1b. Kudos to Dragan and his team at SAEQ. Though they have modestly styled this a smaller version of the...- Kiats

[some preliminary impressions of the Morpheus with the MySphere 3.2: //www.head-fi.org/threads/raal-ribbon-headphones-srh1a.890603/post-17582031] So, the Hyperion Ge sadly was dropped off at Jaben earlier today. But the SAEQ Morpheus came back with me. I will try it later with the TI-1b. :)...- Kiats

[some observations I made some time back on the differences between the Hyperion Ge and the HSA-1c: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/raal-ribbon-headphones-srh1a.890603/post-17579270] After a few days on the Hyperion Ge, via the TI-1b, I am back on the HSA-1c this evening with the SR-1a. For those who are still not so familiar with the HSA-1C, there is a nice write up on the HSA-1b, its predecessor: https://forum.headphones.com/t/raal-requisite-hsa-1b-switch-drive-amplifier-review/9973- Kiats

Haha! Dragan is a good man but he is also so humble. Yet so passionate about what he does. I think he is starting to get more reviews done of his amps. For which I am glad. I am eagerly waiting for my own Armageddon. A serious health issue prevented me attending CJ SG and meeting Dragan in...- Kiats

Congratulations! It is a great amp! If I did not have the HSA-1C for driving both ribbon HPs and normal HPs, I’d get the PDA-1b for sure. It drives even the Susvara with such authority! I look forward to reading about your journey when it arrives. :) I had previously described to Dragan that...- Kiats

I had the pleasure to listen to both the OG Utopia and Utopia 2022 on an amplifier that I have been demoing from Jaben Singapore courtesy of Wilson. The SAEQ Morpheus, appropriately named after the God of Dreams. Dragan Domanovic, the owner of SAEQ (Serbian Audio EQuipment), was telling me that...- Kiats

I have also been listening to the flagship amplifier from the SAEQ team: the Hyperion Ge. The interesting thing about the Hyperion Ge is that it uses Germanium transistors which were discontinued from common use in the 1970s because of the costs involved. What do you get in return for the...- Kiats

I welcomed back the OG Abyss 1266 on Wed night. A very dear friend whom I had lent the Abyss before Covid overtook all of us was visiting Singapore. So, I decided to put the Abyss on for some listening. It hapens that I have been trying out the SAEQ Hyperion Ge. SAEQ is Serbian Audio...- Kiats

I have been listening to my more difficult to drive HPs on this amplifier from SAEQ called Hyperion Ge. This is a loaner courtesy of the kindness of @Uncle Wilson from Jaben SG. Wilson brought in the entire range of amplifiers from SAEQ (as well as their interconnects). I have been sharing my...- Kiats

The Ge was designed to be lush and yet highly resolving and transparent. Interesting combination. This is because of the Germanium transistors used. I have listening to the Susvara off it. On direct drive, on low gain at 8/24. I am really enjoying it: beautiful organic sound signature with a...- Kiats

When I first read on the SAEQ website about the Hyperion Ge, I was wondering if there was some exaggeration on the opulent yet transparent sound from the Ge. Well… after a couple of days with the Ge (which is new in box, thanks to Wilson from Jaben Singapore), I will say that I am very impressed...- Kiats

SAEQ is Serbian Audio Equipment. Dragan Domanovic, who is the owner and main designer, was telling me that they like to think that they are in the business of happiness. :) I first came across SAEQ as the makers of the direct drive amps for the RAAL Requisite ribbon HPs. So, when @Uncle Wilson...- Kiats

The Official Sony TA-ZH1ES Hi-Res Headphone Amplifier (Live From IFA 2016)
Haha! Indeed! I am happy to let the TAZ do the heavy lifting. DSD upsampling is something that Sony are past masters at. 🤗 When I connect it to the ONIX Miracle, i will certainly let the TAZ do the heavy lifting. :)- Kiats

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually use the Shanling ET-3 with I2S into the Holo Spring 3 KTE normally because it allows upsampling that is provided by the ET-3. I am using the USB DAC here because I had a spare USB DAC cable lying around. For the connection between the ONIX Miracle and the...- Kiats

Giving the ATH AW-KT a run out this Sunday morning with the TAZ. There is a lovely synergy. I am actually pondering moving the TAZ upstairs to the bedside rig with the ONIX Miracle which has coaxial and toslink digital output and into the TAZ. I tend to keep away the TAZ and bring it out once a...- Kiats

Not an odd question at all! I had it running this way for a good period of a few months. TAZ does not seem to have suffered much in terms of gravitational shock. ;) As long as everything inside is well soldered etc, I doubt it makes much of a difference to the TAZ. :) Glad to have you back in...- Kiats

I am sure that with each iteration of FW, there will be improvements. However, it will likely always not as nimble or quick as a stripped down OS. ;) Trade offs. :)- Kiats

Well, when you have an OS that is more stripped down, then you’d not be surprised if it was more speedy. There is some trade off to have more. ;)- Kiats
