ZMF Verite Open
Caldera suede ultra perfs are my go-to on my VO as well. When I first had a Verite on loan for about a month I compared the BE2 lamb, Uni lamb, and Caldera ultra perf lamb and decided the ultra perfs were my favorite. When I bought my own Verite I ordered it with both lamb and suede ultra perf...- dbull12

Cayin iHA-6 - US Tour and reviews
Yeah sorry if my post wasn't clear, I meant that the iHA-6 has the high output impedance that some people describe as having the slightly tubey sound, whereas the iHA-8 has really low output impedance so I'm not sure that it would impart that same tubey sound- dbull12

Cayin iHA-6 - US Tour and reviews
I have the iHA-6 and had been considering selling it for an iHA-8 but ended up deciding against it since none of the outputs on the 8 have high output impedance which gives the slightly more "tubey" sound with high impedance dynamic headphones. The 8 also just seems to run a lot hotter and use...- dbull12

Edit: Oops, looks like 2 of the photos are too big to be inserted and have to be downloaded to be viewed. I'm definitely no photographer and these pictures do them no justice, but my zebrawood VOs arrived the other day and they're stunning! I'd say their color is more like the 3rd picture in...- dbull12

Sadly I'm letting go of this "Tourmaline" stabilized Atticus from this latest ZMF November. I'm the original owner. It's difficult for me to capture its beauty and chatoyance with my mediocre photos, but it looks a bit deeper brown in person, more like in the photo below with all the...- dbull12

Recommend a high-end DAC and amp stack to a genuinely curious objectivist
I don't have personal experience with this gear, but since all your headphones are planars based on everything I've read I think Ferrum Oor + Hypsos would be a good alternative to the Holo Bliss since its specialty is driving planars. Then for DAC there's the Ferrum Wandla but that's also an ESS...- dbull12

I think I'll rule out Pietus Maximus since I do like having the options of either 10 or 100 ohm OI on the iHA-6. With that said, has anyone ever compared iHA-6 to A20?- dbull12

Thanks so much! This is probably tough to answer given that I'm sure it will change depending on pad choice and other factors, but between the GH1, RS1x, RS1 button, and PS2000e, which would you say has the most macrodynamics/impact? And if you listen to any music where electric guitar is the...- dbull12

On a related note, would love to know more about how the GH series headphones compare to this generation's RS series or even something like the PS2000e (seeing @YtseJamer 's post about an upcoming PS2000x-ish release has me very intrigued so I'm trying to get a sense of whether that would be the...- dbull12

Grado Fan Club!
I'm very new to Grado but as others have said, I'd also recommend starting with the 225x or 325x. I got the 225x and decided pretty quickly that I was a big fan of it with the indie rock, post-rock, post-metal, black metal, 90s death metal, etc that I often listen to. I wanted to move up the...- dbull12

Cayin iHA-6 - US Tour and reviews
No noise issues on the iHA-6 with my ZMFs or with my lower impedance and higher sensitivity Grado GH1! I am curious about the new iHA-8 but it looks like it doesn't have any high output impedance outputs so maybe it wouldn't necessarily be an upgrade from the iHA-6 for high impedance headphones- dbull12

Holo Audio Cyan 2 DAC
Another really helpful post, thanks so much. I agree that there's a bit of a quality/price imbalance between the amps and DACs I'm looking at. It's tricky because I move around and transport my system somewhat frequently so I want amps and DACs that are solid state with relatively small...- dbull12

Holo Audio Cyan 2 DAC
Thanks so much, this sounds promising! I'm considering replacing my iHA-6 with a Pietus Maximus which only has SE inputs, but I'm still very interested in the Cyan 2. Since my dac1421 is SE only that would be a good option to stick with, but if anyone is able to compare the Cyan 2 via its RCA...- dbull12

Holo Audio Cyan 2 DAC
Sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere in the thread, but would I be leaving sound quality on the table by using the SE outputs rather than balanced, or does the Cyan 2 do a better job than most DACs in that regard?- dbull12

ZMF Verite Open
Bit of a cross-post from the Pietus Maximus thread but I thought this might be a better place to ask: Has anyone had ears on both the Pietus Maximus and Cayin iHA-6 with the VO? Would love to hear any comparisons. iHA-6 has the higher output impedance from the SE outputs which seems beneficial...- dbull12
