It is true, it's something I respect tremendously from HiFiMAN and why I really enjoy most their products. Audio-Technica also adopted the "near" full open back idea with ADX5000, and are currently evolving that. Even something like the HD800 is in theory a ~75% open back headphone.

Dunu Glacier is awesome. The FR Target is still not my thing but super well done and still enjoyable with many genres. Bit spicy, but the techs at the price make even some top tier stuff sound muffed.

A trick to making this an easier job is to line in two clips into the grooves and to press the remaining two using a credit card. This allows you to push the tab into place while sliding the card between the baffle and underside of the pad.

I prefer the Singularity because it's more realistic in tuning and dynamics are superior to M9, but the M9 has the edge in imaging/ staging and a generally more open sound. M9 has darker mids, Singularity mids are very nicely in line with IEF target, which can sometimes be a bit more tiring...
