I won't say MEST Mk2 the same as Mk3, tonally quite different. Mk3 is noticeably warmer than the Mk2. So, Mk3 sounds much more engaging to my taste. Comparing to Enigma, two highlights: both MESTs have very thin bass, and crisp trebles.

Ideally must be like you said. However, multiple testing reports says it is impossible: humans can’t really tell polarity of a sound wave. Scientists says, differences in polarity are noticable for frequencies below 100 hz for 5% of people - they can barely notice it.

I took multimeter to check and i can confirm IMR cables have opposite polarity ON BOTH left and right sides versus other vendors cable. But please correct me if i am wrong, "out of phase headphones/speakers" become only if ONE side has opposite polarity. UPD: There's a blind test for absolute...

That opposite polarity fact only relevant for few first IMR models (as I remember, R1 and Zenith) if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I want to double check for this specific cable because i have few other cables with recessed pins and their plastic insert part is smaller than Imr socket - so, earphone basically fixed to the cable with only metal pins. It is not reliable..
