Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
Interesting. They are cranking through these. For what it's worth, I've got #196 (from December of last year) and it sounds fantastic.- azeral

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
Did we ever get the serials of the Empyreans which were claimed to be substantially different? They are printed above the right earcup as mentioned before. I have to admit that I'm suspicious of this as a true quality control issue, and were I in Meze's shoes, I'd be pretty hesitant to pay for...- azeral

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
Glad there's some consistency between my impression here and what's seen elsewhere. I've only heard the Empyrean with solid state gear so far, and I've been encouraged elsewhere to explore OTL tube amplification, which I found really interesting. Is it possible to generalize about what your...- azeral

Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone
...good these sound out of damn near everything I try them with, as had been noted by the previous owner. I listened for a good while today off of a *smartphone* and it was completely fine. Brought a laptop to a local dealer, and strangely found that they sounded 95% as good out of a Mojo or a...- azeral

Massdrop x Focal Elex Review & Measurements
Just got into the game with the Elex, and am quite happy with the tuning (paired with a Chord Mojo). I saw lots of discussion about pad swaps and tuning impact, and it seems we are spoiled for choice between Deoni and Focal pads, but it's still not clear to me where I could get true elex...- azeral

Campfire - Solaris
...Attached is the the depth they sit WRT my outer ear. This depth for me maintains a perfect seal, even during a light jog, even if it feels *very* deep. Curious if this is the norm. I feel like these just need some time for those of us with smaller ears, and I'm not sure if my canals have...- azeral

Campfire - Solaris
Does anyone get driver pop routinely when inserting these? I experience this only when inserting due to my tight ears. I dont think this is an issue with the design or anything, but I'm wondering if this could harm the drivers over time. I have another DD-BA hybrid (Fiio FH5), and those never...- azeral

Campfire - Solaris
I want to second this as well. I jumped directly from a Galaxy S8+ to a Chord Dave and while I certainly heard a difference, the scaling-gap wasn't nearly as big as I expected (having heard that unit really improve several over-ear headphones in the recent past). From a certain perspective this...- azeral

Campfire - Solaris
I guess this has to do with the way I usually wear IEMs, which is with a very shallow insertion of the tip. I find that IEMs that are often labeled as too shallow work beautifully for me because of this. This completely does not work with the Solaris. With deep insertion there is incredible...- azeral

Campfire - Solaris
Sort of an odd reply to my claim that the Solaris gets *close* to the sensation of a 2 channel setup. If the marketing materials imply this as a benchmark, then fair game for comparison in my book. Of course, if you've spent enough time on Audiogon, you'll see the strangest stuff from the...- azeral

Campfire - Solaris
Got the Solaris yesterday. I wanted to check the "speakers in a room" claims I always hear, so I'm AB'ing in my listening room. Initial impressions suggest this is true. Nothing that hasn't been said before; soundstage is wide and tall, and doesn't sound like music is coming from two drivers...- azeral

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
Interesting. I had the standard andro for a minute, and they never did irritate my ears the way it seems they do for many (inner shell never contacted the intertragic notch of my ear). Here's a lament that I don't have access to a IEM dealer to try this all out for myself.- azeral

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
Yes, this is sort of what I was after. My worry was that the effective "lever arm" of the Solaris would be longer and more susceptible to torque when waking. Think I may stay with the standard andro.- azeral

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
...andromeda s because the thing was just so damn heavy in my ears when walking. The weight made them pendulous and created that really low-frequency *whoom-whoom* sound when walking. Breaks my heart. I'm looking to get back to the regular andro, as I dont recall having weight issues with that...- azeral

Denon AH-7200
I've been listening with these for a week now, and I really appreciate the change in doing from the D7000, though I still love the crap out of that model. Did anyone have any luck with a headband swap using the older foster models? I saw some messages about trying this but didn't see any...- azeral

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
I've only ever owned a new car once in my life, and I worked so damned hard to keep it scratch free and looking polished, and that endeavor was truly satisfying. But after one or two incidents with a someone else's cart at the supermarket and a couple of big scratches later, I somehow just let...- azeral

Denon AH-7200
Been lurking here for a bit. I own a D7000/TH-X00 (Mahogany) and have a D7200 on the way. I picked up a pair of Dekoni Fostex TH900 Elite Hybrid pads and tried them on both of the above models, and I absolutely could not listen to them after the switch. The bass survived, but everything in the...- azeral

Ha! This was my concern about solaris, as well. Looking at the nozzle, I imagined they would be extremely wide for me given that I have a relatively flush ear geometry and even the andros protrude slightly.- azeral
