For sale is a complete custom made chassis set for the Kevin Gilmore designed DIY T2. The chassis significantly simplifies the building process for the DIY T2. The way I read it was #279-289 was supposed to be shipped LAST week. But maybe I am reading it too optimistically given that I am ks backer #290.- georgep

I believe they crapped out somewhere in the low 200s back in Feb/March. I am Kickstarter #290, so I have a ways to go - maybe before 2021?- georgep

Have people tried netparcel shipping rates through PayPal? Usually some savings over walk-up rates. But you need a PayPal account and you pack it up yourself.- georgep

That is odd to hear given that the KGSSHV was the gold standard of electrostatic amplifiers prior to the carbon (other than the t2 and the bhse), and universally recommended to be paired with the 007.- georgep

sr007Mk2 has been sz3 since 2007. sr007a (the domestic Japan version of the Mk2) used sz2 serials for quite some time - not sure about what is being used currently - so is what you are saying in relation to the sr007a now also being sz3?- georgep

Fixed that for you, as that is only in relation to iterations of the 007a/007Mk2.- georgep

Actually, there isn’t really anything you can do to make the 507 sound really good. Unfortunately, it was one of their weakest. 207 puts it to shame.- georgep

Care to share which tracks (and format) and at which time you heard fingers on guitar strings with the Voce that you could not hear with the 009? Would be helpful.- georgep

That box has been heavily modified by an end user. What the white connector is for is anybody's guess - certainly not the HE90, or any Senn electrostat for that matter.- georgep

Yes, you should for sure change out the sr507 for something else before upgrading amplifiers - that one was a bit of a failure unfortunately.- georgep

The "stax fart" is caused by the dust covers. It is a crinkling sound - are you sure this is what you are hearing? Which headphone are you experiencing this with? And what amp are you using (which could be clipping if you are forcing it to do things it can't)?- georgep

Detachable Stax L700. Boom.
That is not how stax works ( or any other electrostat for that matter). Even the lowly srm-252 provides 580v to the headphones (very low current). You are quoting the output voltage, which is different. You should probably read up a bit more on how these amplifiers and headphones work.- georgep

No amount of modding will make the 407 sound as good as the 404le... unless you also swap the 407 drivers for 404le drivers.- georgep

STAX SR-009S new flagship electrostatic earspeakers released (with impressions)
Presently only own 009, 007MK2 with MK1 drivers and 007MK1. The current 007 MK2 (which I have heard on a number of occasions) is good but not as good as the MK1 or early MK2. And 009 is not better. Different. But not better. And I don't typically follow everything that Birgir Spritzer writes the...- georgep

STAX SR-009S new flagship electrostatic earspeakers released (with impressions)
Not sure if there is anyone who would say the current MK2 is as good as the MK1 (and there are three variations that I am familiar with (there are probably more)). And the MK2 would require the port mod to even be in the running. Also the early MK2s were excellent as they used MK1 drivers - with...- georgep

Detachable Stax L700. Boom.
Stax bias is 580v - which both cups carry. Probably not an issue, but that would exceed the rating of the connector by a bit. "Running the amp" at 450v I expect is in reference to the power supply, which does not mean that a 450v psu supplies 450v to the headphones... And why was it expected...- georgep

The GES is really an entry level amp, a bit below the old KGSS (non-HV), and probably not much better (if at all) than your 007tII. For the last 6 or so years I have only had the T2 and Carbon (not as long as the T2 obviously), so can't offer much guidance to you.- georgep

As well, you may like a particular sound that aligns with those other members. So given that you love the Jade 2 and...- georgep

KGSShv Carbon - hows it sound with the 009s?
I would recommend that you read pages 12, 13 and 14 of this thread to get some useful information. Now Mulveling has one of my DIY-T2s, so his interest in anything else has understandably diminished. But there are also some folks on here who clearly prefer some distortion and shelved frequencies...- georgep

KGSShv Carbon - hows it sound with the 009s?
Some people like amps that cut out a bit in the treble, and watching your progression over the years, it would seem you do as well - and that is fair. Purk and Mulveling both have the T2, and also sold their BHSEs. I still have a Carbon along with my T2.- georgep
