I mean, it could be your own cables are influencing the sound in that case. Try the stock ones to see if they change the sound closer to the what you remember. At any rate, if the newest 1000se are indeed less bright, that's a good thing

Never heard the Arya so I can't comment, I'll let others chime in on what they think. If you think they're similar then sure. But for $1699, I wouldn't hesitate going straight for the 1000se
