I see. I bought the MK2 pair from a German seller a year ago, they were in excellent condition but I paid a high price for them. Yes, it is risky somehow. In anyway, I would encourage you to try another set of earpads and see whether it solves the problem. By the way, have you checked if the...- QusayM

Are they with the original earpads? I can say for sure that the MK1 that I have sounds exactly as you described on a specific pair of earpads. By the way, I have seen a few pairs of the HD 250 (MK1 and MK2) listed on eBay.- QusayM

Another point to mention, I started enjoying them with gaming when I paired them to an amplifier that has a dynamic range of 145 dB.- QusayM

Interesting. By 'clarity', I assume you mean an emphasis in the high frequencies region e.g. treble. However, I am not sure about the meaning of "Fullness" of the sound. Do you mean the dominance of the Midrange? Anyway, actually you described the HD 250's performance in movies/gaming fairly...- QusayM

Wow!, the cma800i and Feliks echo mk2 look expensive and highly regarded. :relaxed: Which vintage power amp do you have? I found a used pair of the HD800 at 500$ used. Not sure whether they are worth it to replace the HD250 with them. I have tried the HD430 for gaming and I liked the experience...- QusayM

Interesting. Which amplifier do you use to feed them? Have you even got the chance to compare them to the HD 800, especially for gaming?- QusayM

Why do you think that they do not perform adequately when it comes to watching movies? Is it due to their slightly recessed mid-range or the extension in the treble region?- QusayM

While I do agree that an OTL vacuum-tubes amplifier would provide a subjectively pleasant sound out of vintage Sennheiser headphones, I must admit that some solid-state amplifiers do not fall short at all. I have recently tried pairing my HD 230 with a vintage power amp with a modern preamp and...- QusayM

The Sennheizer HD540 Gold are great headphones. They have more elevated and more extended low frequencies compared to the non-gold version. Pairing with woth an OTL tubes amplifier would is the best opinion, exactly the same as with the HD250.- QusayM

The Linear 2 is more V-shaped compared to Linear 1. In addition, it is a better match with modern headphones amplifiers. The bass is indeed more present and emphasized. However, when it comes to the bass extension, I cannot really pick up a clear winner although, to my ears, the Linear 2 has...- QusayM

I tend to agree with you. Slightly warmer amplifiers are the way to go when it comes to the HD250 although they are still enjoyable on neutral sound amplifier.- QusayM

Regarding your question. I have only owned two OTL amplifiers. The Xudoo and the Cern, which is hand-made. Yes, there is a noticeable difference between the two but I could enjoy the HD250 on both.- QusayM

How did you get the chance to listen to ZMF headphones? Do you think that they are similar to Sennheizer headphones in some ways? Objectively speaking, to me ears, the high frequencies are a bit more contained, the law frequencies are more elevated. From the the subjective aspect, the midrange...- QusayM

I have just watch your review. Interesting indeed. You made my want to try those headphones. Unfortunately, they are extremely expensive and I doubt I will be able to listen to them at some point. Oh sorry, I forgot to respond to your question. I tried the HD250 on an OTL tubes amplifier (Less accurate, warmer and more musical) and on a vintage receiver (Akai) and on a moder HPM (Topping L30ii). Yes, they tend to be brighter on the last two amplifier but more accurate with slightly more...- QusayM

The HD230 has a more expressive and more pleasant midrange. In addition, their treble is more tolerable for me. I am super sensitive to treble as my ears are relatively smaller than average.- QusayM

Well, I tried it on three different amplifiers and I could notice the extension in the low frequencies region. Then those amplifiers must be "warm" although I am not sure that is the accurate definition of this term. I am not the guy who asked about pad rolling but actually I thought about...- QusayM

Sennheiser HD250 Linear Impressions Micro-Thread
In my experience, the HD250 is both bright and warm although it is actually quite neutral if you look at its frequency response. The thing is, the HD250 scales incredibly well and sounds different from amplifier to amplifier. The major "problem" with it is the recessed midrange. By the way. I...- QusayM
