Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
that's possible. I just tried it for fun & experiment since I had the P50 laying around. it worked fine so I guess i just stuck with it. maybe that's why with battery it sounds fuller and with the LPS leaner giving illusion of clarity. I'll listen some more.- mykeldg

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
The LPS I used was the Topping P50 whose outputs are regular USB ports. So its kinda just like powering it via its micro USB port (just with the battery disconnected to ensure the internal battery is not being utilized.)- mykeldg

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
Here is my quick comparison of the Chord mojo with the Topping P50 LPS (battery disconnected) vs Without : Difference is subtle but audible considering the lots of factors with youtube compression, crappy microphone, room coloration, etc. I also read above that Rob Watts, Kentajalli &...- mykeldg

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
fun tweak : disconnect the internal battery and connect to a Linear Power Supply (like Topping P50). The result is a more lively & expansive sound. I tried to compare it with the internal battery as well as power bank. Ultimately, the result is subtle, but once I heard the LPS, going back to...- mykeldg

Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier
Did you mean the brio 2017? Interesting! I currently have the Rag 1 on loan and its quite a beast and one of the best amps ive ever heard however the lack of remote and excessive heat leaves me looking into other amps.- mykeldg

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
Here's my quick take on the Mojo -- against the Mimby and Topping E30 : Mojo is quite impressive -- I always speculated that FPGA sounds just like DS dacs (but with better super-sampling & output stage). That might still be true but I find the Mojo sound a lot cleaner, blacker and more...- mykeldg

that's probably why I also preferred the MM (with V2 firmware) since I use it exclusively for stereo/speakers. Mojo is also nice though, much better than any delta sigma dacs ive heard. I'll give it more time to give a proper comparison.- mykeldg

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
I'm currently comparing the much more expensive Chord Mojo to the Modi Multibit. I still feel the Modi Multibit is better, more microdynamics, better depth, better timbre, more analog sound. The Mojo sounds super smooth and clean though. The Mimby heck of a lot more musical IMO.- mykeldg

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
I totally get you. I actually just borrowed a friend's Chord Mojo which is supposed to be much better than the mimby and off-the-shelf Delta Sigma DACs but I still feel the mimby sounds less processed, more pure, more rhythm (albeit slightly grainy). The Mojo sounds so clean and smooth that some...- mykeldg

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
Do you find the Mimby having a more grainy treble compared to the modius? Do you turn-off the mimby or leave it on 24/7? If there is one thing I noticed between multibit and DS is that the treble is kinda grainy. Then again, I never leave the mimby on 24/7 and just tun it on when I need to use...- mykeldg

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
This might be highly subjective but my take is multi-bit sounds more like real life and yes maybe vinyl-like. I don't know if its 'pleasing' per se, but somehow it sounds more transparent despite being thicker and softer. It resolves more detail in a different way through larger / deeper...- mykeldg

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
Thanks for this -- just the review I needed. I've been on and off the DS vs Multibit bandwagon for quite a while (D30, D50s, E30, Modi 3) and I always tend to go back the Modi Multibit despite the non-hi-res sound. I have the E30 (technically the same chip used by the modius) and while it is...- mykeldg

Schiit Modius discussion - $199 balanced AK4493 DAC
thanks! im really tempted to try the modius. my subjective opinion of AKM's velvet sound is its like dynamics are rendered in a way that it is more 'polite' and it fails to fully let go and give you that last 'bite'. lows are smooth and a bit less textured, slight dip in the mids. for example if...- mykeldg

anyone know if the modius still have the AKM velvet sound that was present in the modi 3? I remember liking the modi 3 very much apart from the velvet tuning inherent from the 4490- mykeldg

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit
Heard many great things about the RMEs! The Modius is a new week-old product from Schiit (you might have mixed it up with the mimby) which is currently being hyped and compared to the ADI2 and d90. I don't know how the hype holds up but looks like an interesting product for the price if it holds...- mykeldg

If you really liked the ADI-2, a few people (from headfi) are reporting that the Modius sounds better than it at a fraction of the cost, especially if you used the balanced out. (even D90 users reporting the same) That said, I would still personally go for the BF2 for the great imaging and timbre.- mykeldg

glad it didn't disappoint you. I was about to sell the mimby to get the modius but now im not so sure after hearing this from you. btw, if you have a good coax source, they say it transforms the mimby even more. (they also say to leave it on 24/7 but i live in a very tropical climate so its easy...- mykeldg

lol I just bought the E30. Should have waited a lil longer. Folks at another forum are saying this destroys even the D70s (along with all dacs in this price range) in both measurements and subjective listening.- mykeldg

nice to see you here. am a fan of your channel. the mimby is quite interesting and I look forward to your review of it.Its not hi-res sounding but it does something else I can't explain - instruments have a lifelike quality - maybe the soundstage and imaging part due to the cutom filtering &...- mykeldg
