RAAL 1995 Immanis
Lyon is rainy right now, but I did find a perfect place to take a "Immanis goes places" photo! Place Ampere, with a monument to Andre-Marie Ampere seems fantastically appropriate! On Monday, I should find the time to make a pilgrimage to Musee Ampere...- Aleksandar R.

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
Danny was at T.H.E. Show in Costa Mesa yesterday, wanting to check out some amps by Viva and Trafomatic on Immanis, but also got invited to listen to Shangri La and the new Susvara Unveiled. He's buddies with HifiMan rep...Nice quiet room, had all the time he needed, heard all the music he wanted...- Aleksandar R.

Since it's a tube amp, if it has separate speaker outputs for 4 and 8 ohms, then the power is the same at 4 and 8. In any case, you can load a tube output transformer with double the impedance, and you can stretch it up to 4x the nominal load impedance. Either way, you're good with 16 ohms any...- Aleksandar R.

I really don't think that you need 8 Ohms interface with that one. I very much doubt that it changes the sound as the load impedance changes, plus, it will develop 25W at 32 Ohms, far more than needed. I think that in your case, it would be a completely unnecessary purchase.- Aleksandar R.

Yes to both questions. I just want to add the 8 Ohms interface is not needed for vast majority of speaker amps. It is needed only for the ones that aren't capable of delivering 3W at 32 ohms.- Aleksandar R.

We now have several great 300B amps on the market, including the ones for speakers, and this Yamamoto A-09S is one of them. Such speaker SETs are the reason we make 8 Ohms RCD Interface.- Aleksandar R.

CanJams are reasonably priced for rooms and we have started that practice from Singapore CJ. Next CJ in the States will be in a room, and hopefully, every consecutive one. As for Munich High-End, at the headphone floor, very expensive rooms. Triple the CJ cost, for less than a half of the...- Aleksandar R.

Quasi-ribbon has narrow conductor traces on plastic foil, allowing for high (normal) resistance, just like traces in planars, but they are clamped top and bottom with magnets on the sides. True ribbon is just a metal foil, almost as wide as the gap between the magnets, very low resistance...- Aleksandar R.

With speakers, there is a significant thermal stress, unlike in headphones, that work with 0.5W divided into 1, 2 or 3 ribbons. We have about 15k tweeters made in a span of 18 years, and sales of spare ribbons for them hasn't yet reached 5%. With headphones, SR-1 is out for a little over 5...- Aleksandar R.

No, not all RAAL-requisite dealers will automatically be RAAL 1995 dealers. We are still working things out with some, so we'll see. There is a distrubution channel that should encompass Vienna, but at the moment, I don't know what happened with that. You can always book a ticket to Belgrade...- Aleksandar R.

I'm not trying to control anything, I'm trying to add additional explanation, that is my motivation. For example, the distortion with all my headphones so far, will measure a pretty high number in comparison to most other headphones. But the number is not high enough to be significantly audible...- Aleksandar R.

I am totally aware of that your view on the matter is predominant here. However, ASR published a nonsense data he got about group delay, saying "What is this", bashing me instead of figuring out that his S/N ratio is too low. Total lack of understanding what he actually measures and how to...- Aleksandar R.

Andrew, I'm always open for a proper way of doing things. I'm of the opinion that if measurements matter for a review, then I need to be given space to express my view on choices that were made to get such measurements. Like, you do your own measurements, do the listening and all that...- Aleksandar R.

Precise deconstruction is needed here. I originally said: "You will only get help from me if you are willing to change your opinion, if your findings will allow you to do so." There are no conditions here to his work at all. By work, I mean his own measurements and listening, etc. Cameron said...- Aleksandar R.
