Thanks, I will try that. I have ordered solid mesh and auteur pads to see what will suit me best... Yes they are different woods, the one with much less 3 kHz is a stabilized maple and the one with the peak is a resin stabilized. Might also be a factor, I haven't tried swapping the pads yet...

I am fine with the treble overall, including the lower treble regions, but the upper midrange at 3kHz is where I hear that peak very profoundly the weird thing is that this peak is clearly audible for me on one unit, but not on another AO I have......same pads (universe lambskin perf) I guess...

Has anyone experienced a peak/resonance at almost exactly 3 kHz on their AO? This makes female voices really shouty depending on the track.....
