According to JoeBloggs if I understand him correctly it is near impossible to tell if the filters are working, if that is what he meant I do not see why they are put there in the first place.

Strange how some people struggle with certain updates, my HibyMusic would not update a couple of days ago. Be good if they sorted these update problems out as it seems like a lottery, always brace myself when something is updating, feels as bad as when the bios on a pc is is installing.

Mine showed an update available as soon as I turned the hiby on, so different way of updating from the way it updated in the past. Update done, not yet checked what has been changed.

If I recall when I tried some DSD tracks the only way I could EQ was under the PCM setting, not sure as was a while back.

@Joe Bloggs I am curious as to when the next update is due as there have been various problems that people have reported in the last few months which need fixing.

I am aware you were not trying to put people off from buying the 109's, and it is a good thing you made us aware that this could happen, like yourself I thought that was the natural colour of the metal however now I know it is not the case so I shall be extra cautious with handling the 109's.

Thought the metal would be naturally that colour and not painted on, mine have not suffered with that flaking so far but I have to say I would be very annoyed if they flake the way yours have.

I tend to turn mine off from the front as it gets pretty toasty when I have left it on for 2-3 hrs not being used. I suspect not enough ventilation around mine if others do not get hot.

I find the same as yourself on the 109's, if it is not my imagination on high they seem to sound lower volume and probably smoother. Tried to turn the volume up to compensate but still I find a slight difference especially on the high notes. The volume definitely varies on mine.
