    DIY Ground Box Thread

Agree on these points, especially the fine powder settling to the bottom point. The greater the disparity in particle sizes the more risk of this. The reality for purchased boxes like my three QAs is that during transit around the world theres a lot of potential for sustained vibration, and the...

Douk Audio U2 Pro DDC - Poorman DDC for an affordable & clean digital signal

I see. I'll also search the thread for HF filtering dongles and I'll definitely also look into adding the 2.0 hub (like this https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804813827430.html). These would stand in the place of the Adum4166?

Much of the year was listening after cause and effect (if this...

...Hugo TT and Mojo. I really like the Hugo TT, Hugo TT2 and Mojo 2. They each have their unique strengths and even if the TT2 covers ”more ground” there is a case to be made for why one could prefer the other two. The TT2 w/o mScaler is technically superior but the Mojo 2 (and og TT) are just...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Sounds to me that you have poor ground or neutral connections somewhere in your building power distribution system----best to call a pro. As for a UPS, the units that offer real protection are double conversion units--the AC is rectified, a battery bank is floated on the DC bus, and a DC to AC...

Douk Audio U2 Pro DDC - Poorman DDC for an affordable & clean digital signal

...seen on the photo, I see no problem, but there is no reason for the excitement. I always use USB 2.0 hub, but for the reason I can redirect ground loops to the external power supply. Here it is more complicated. Inside the silicon isolator chip there is a gigaherz frequency generator, such...

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

Red October does employ those three. You could also opt for Envy and a different tube pre utilizing 6SN7 or similar variant.

Hmm well, I may not be the man to ask either if I'm being honest! I tend to think that the contribution of the tube type being used in an amplifier to the overall sound is a bit overestimated by audiophiles. You can have two different amplifiers, both using 300B for example, that have a very...

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

I’m probably not the person to ask, but my understanding has always been that EL34/KT88 amps tend to offer a fuller, more forceful presentation, while 300B is all about air and atmosphere.

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

Your maybe the man to ask.. 12AU7, love the technicals (stage, res, back ground etc), 300b / 6sn7 - love the tone (when well matched - easier said than done). From a bit of research, there's not an amp that would use a combo of all three (300+12AU7 =5U4G) and I'd need to switch to a tube dac...

The HiFi Tuning Supreme Cu Fuses utilize pure copper caps and melt wire, and are soldered with HiFi Supreme's own Supreme solder, which is a silver/copper/gold mixture. The copper end caps are gold-plated, to prevent oxidation. The Supreme Cu fuses are also cryogenically treated, as well as...

I really hate that they do make a difference to be honest. And they do make a significant difference, i just wish i knew exactly how they worked. But take a look at the diy ground box thread, you're not the only one in the cult, if it makes you feel better.

Very nice write up It’s spot on with my experience with my Agartha. You’ve don’t a great job of capturing the essence of the A&S 300B sound. I’d love to hear the RO (or RO XL) someday and see how much better it can get at the summit, but price for performance wise the Agartha is a beast of an...

    Audio Grade Fuses

I have no need for 10 fuses- but the 200mm rod is just 2-3 more pounds in cost than a 50mm rod- so it is basically free... I live in Israel- and you better believe I have a ground fault circut. It is quite sensitive to shorts. When an appliance in my house has a short- it jumps and jumps fast.

    Audio Grade Fuses

It basically saves the wiring in your house from starting to burn, but that's about it. At least to my understanding. You should have a ground fault circuit interrupter in your home which should trigger first anyways. (I'm not sure which countries use those, but Germany does) How often did a...
