RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
it's only on songs which are already "hot" to begin with. @innocentblood has the immanis with Bliss and iirc he doesn't think the Bliss is a good match for the immanis. I'll wait for him to notice his tag and chime in. he has also demoed the armageddon with immanis in his own system. tbh I...- Roasty

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
I think the armageddon is a great amp. runs cool, sounds warm almost tubey. top end occasionally borders on aggressive but only with particular songs. tonnes of power.. can drive anything out there without batting an eyelid. I had it in my hse together with the riviera and tbh if I hadn't...- Roasty

T+A Solitaire P planar magnetostatic
immanis is a very refined, balanced sound. after hearing it, and having it with the solP side by side, technically the immanis is on a different level. solP is a darker more relaxed presentation. up top no contest I give the nod to the Raal easily; sweet sounding, non harsh, excellent tone and...- Roasty

Congrats man! I've never heard an ampandsound amp before.. don't think I'll ever get the chance too. I have only heard and read good things about the red October. but I think they bombed big time with that tube cage though...- Roasty

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
listening to some Lizz Wright with the Immanis out of the AIC-10 speaker taps.. I'm so floored right now. Just amazing vocals, and that low end extension. such a balanced and refined sounding headphone! as much as I love them, I feel the sr1b and ca1a don't come anywhere close to the...- Roasty

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
I think the riviera and mk465 are great! though I went with the riviera as I love tubes + it looks super and has a premium build quality, can drive speakers, and has a remote. also, I managed to source the riviera for several K cheaper than the mk465. that remote.. I kept it in the box the...- Roasty

Thanks man! I tried Aperio at the dealer, but I think it wasn't for me. tried HE1 at a friend's house and it sounded good but he advised against it as apparently Sennheiser support for the HE1 is really poor.. and never got to try shang Sr/Jr..- Roasty

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
i dunno man.. trying to interpret what coloured treble means to him seems like aiming for a definitive answer from a subjective impression. anyhow.. I find the vocals and treble on the immanis superb. natural, flowing, clear and pleasant. details are all there without any hint of harshness or...- Roasty

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
Speaker tap outs to 8ohm interface box. I ordered mine with the 8ohm interface and 3m extension cable with banana plugs. the 3m length is so I can place the box on a table near my listening seat as the star8 from the interface box can't be too long.- Roasty

Riviera AIC-10 headphones & speakers amplifier
it's dead quiet black background with the riviera. I'm getting a faint background hiss with the vm1a but I suspect it's the tubes. got a friend coming over with his immanis this weekend to confirm findings. Will give the stock tubes a go and see if the hiss is still there. Otherwise, nice...- Roasty

I like them a lot. built like a tank. fuss free. best of all they run super cool. hardly gets warm even after extended use. I only got them as I was curious about monoblocks. glad I decided to give them a try. slightly different from my nad M23 which has a bit more low end but a more reference...- Roasty

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
I'm getting a faint background hiss with the vm1a on all modes. and also thru the interface box (8ohm) but I'm guessing with the speaker system gear it's due to a really high overall gain. going to try put some Rothwell inline attenuators in the chain and see if that helps.- Roasty

it's that time of the year again when my wife and kids are out of town for a few days, and I get to shift all of my gear out into the lounge and play with my speakers as well.. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: was anxiously waiting for the immanis to arrive whole of last week. scheduled for last...- Roasty

a few days later than expected, thanks to FedEx. anyways, the local dealer dropped this off this evening; thank you, Sean! loving the silver combination! running it in for the next few days, though it already sounds great out of the box. many thanks, Aleks! tonnes of headroom with vm1a on UL...- Roasty

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
Yea I'm still running that eq, but modded it a bit ie running every parameter except the 150hz peak; in its place I've put a low shelf of 105hz +3db Q0.7 (essentially this is the low shelf from oratory1990 eq). i tried the rest of oratory1990 eq for the abyss but in the end I still prefer the...- Roasty

Thanks man! yep it's a DHC but not the chimera. this is a Prion4. not sure what the plug is.. anyways, probably my last DHC product; the prices for DHC cables are really something else (especially for my 3m length preference), and the wait is too long.- Roasty

how many headphone amps does one person need? ok, yes, the last one is a preamp.. the correct answer is N+1, where N is the number of amps you actually need. this weekend so far was fantastic; spent my free time listening to the 1266 TC + riviera aic-10 out of the rockna wavedream stack. was...- Roasty

High End Cables Thread (digital, analog, power)

just ordered a Mullard M8136. man.. it's so cheap to roll tubes with this amp. Just one tube. I don't have to worry about pricey Tak rectifier tubes or multiple driver and power tubes like in the woo. this amp is slamming hard with the TC!- Roasty
