Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
Can anybody tell me about the KZ planar IEMs? What is the difference (besides cosmetics) between the PR1 and PR2? I assume the PR1 is "better" since it costs more but what are the differences in how they sound and fit? I really, really like the Monolith M570s I got a while back and I'd love to...- Roboturner913

Yep! It's a really nice little device. I thought it was going to be made of plastic or whatever, no, this thing is built to last a while.- Roboturner913

This thing is awesome! I got this one used on ebay for $40. It runs Rockbox and the battery is really good. I'm going to end up getting about 15 hours out of the first full charge. It's got enough juice for my planars and way more than enough for any of my IEM's (currently using Moondrop Quarks...- Roboturner913

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
I have been using Monolith M570 to listen to most of my metal collection and I am finding them surprisingly good, especially stuff that is more symphonic and/or psychedelic. Dark Tranquillity's last few albums sound incredible on them. Ditto for Kalmah, Amorphis, Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Mol...- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
Grabbed a Monolith Liquid Spark to go with these. I have noticed the more power you feed them, the treble gets smoother and airier and just all-around better.- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
After a week of listening to these, they are definitely keepers, but whether you like them probably depends greatly on what you're using to power them. They sound fantastic hooked directly into my vintage Yamaha preamp (CX-830). Surprisingly, they also sound really good with two small Rockbox...- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
I don't know anything about the Sundaras, but these are definitely not light. TBH they're downright heavy. It's not a big issue for me since I do most of my listening in some degree of lying down (couch or recliner, etc) but I wouldn't want to wear them in a situation where I'm solely...- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
Got my M570s today and they are great! I will definitely need some amplification to take them on longer trips - which is why I bought them in the first place. My little Walkman doesn't have enough juice for them, so the bass is a tiny bit weak and the treble sizzles too much. But the 90s Yamaha...- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
I was thinking something a little more portable, but first I want to see if my Walkman DAP has enough juice on its own. Might not be necessary.- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
So I'm gonna grab a pair of these and a small Chi-fi headphone amp, I need to find something that works with my little Walkman. That thing has a pretty good DAC so I think I can skip buyng one of those for now.- Roboturner913

NEW Monolith M570 Over Ear Open Back Planar Headphone
I'm thinking about getting a pair of these, anything I should know. I have some loyalty to the Monolith brand at this point, I have their original turntable which is still great and a pair of the Encore T6 towers which IMO sound like $2000+ true hi-fi speakers. I listen to a little bit of...- Roboturner913

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
This is the setup I keep at work. NWA45 running the awesome Mr. Walkman firmware. I was just about ready to give up on this thing when I discovered the custom firmware. It really does open up the sound on this player and makes it a lot more tweakable. The in-ears are Awei ES800. I bought them...- Roboturner913

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
Using this on my NW-A45 now and I won't go back to the original firmware. I was about to get rid of this thing and find something that ran Rockbox but I think I'll hang on to it now. Am I crazy or does using the high gain output really punch up the sound? It says "not applicable for this...- Roboturner913

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
After playing around with it a little I really do enjoy the tweaks to the sound. I preferred the "playing now" screen from the stock firmware though. I know I probably sound neurotic but it seems like all the text is squished close together and it bugs me a little. I don't suppose there is a way...- Roboturner913

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
I just discovered this existed last night and I haven't had time to dig into it. I have an NW-A45. I know it's old, but I really like it and haven't seen any reason to upgrade to a newer one. This firmware seems like it addresses my only real issues with the player, which is the EQ and initial...- Roboturner913

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
Got my NW-A45 today. So far, I like it a lot. Haven't quite got the sound I want dialed in yet but it's a matter of playing with the equalizer and all the various filters/processors until I get there. Seems to mate really well with my Sennheiser PX-100s. Have not tried any IEM's with it yet but...- Roboturner913

Chinese / Asian Brand IEM Info Thread
Got these Betron YSM-1000 which seem like KZ-ED clones with cosmetic differences. Came with foam tips too, although I prefer the silicone ones, better seal for me.- Roboturner913

Anybody else own multiple pairs of the same IEM?
I have like 6 pairs of Awei ES800. I have Betron YSM-1000 and KZ-ED which are essentially the same thing. Also have two pairs of Senn PX-100-II. When I find something I like, I buy extras.- Roboturner913

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
Just bought an NW-A45 from B&H for what seemed like a good price ($150). Pretty stoked. Except for having to wait a whole week to get it. I was gonna buy the Fiio M6 for the same price but when I saw the price on the Sony I had to do it. I've had a couple different Walkmans over the years and...- Roboturner913

Welp, looks like I waited too long. I didn't want to order over the Thanksgiving holiday because I wasn't home and there's been a rash of package thefts in my neighborhood. Got back home yesterday, went to order it and there's no more stock. Looks like somebody bought em all up at the $99 price...- Roboturner913

Yeah, I don't care about phone stuff, if I need to do phone stuff I'll use my phone for that. Looking for exceptional sound quality, sound tweakability, basic good functionality (the more basic, the better tbh) and good battery life. gonna go ahead and order one from Amazon- Roboturner913

Forgive my laziness for not reading through the whole thread, but is this thing as good as it appears to be? Looking at picking one up. I am currently using Apgtek Rocker but the battery life has me down on it.- Roboturner913
