Update on ZMF Verite Closed backs. I changed out the dac from the Soekris to a Schiit Modius E dac. HIGH GAIN Much better now than the first pass. One of the best closed backs for such a nice soundstage, Still not as good overall as other cans, but still really decent...YMMV ...we all hear...

Folks report then using amps with these cans with less the "voltage" "needed" and at 80 - 85 db are not having issues. Golden Sound stated a general rule if you want to listen at 90-95 db (which is rather high...beware!)...an amp approaching 1.5 watts at 300 ohms is in that ballpark. MJ3 is...

Understand that..so prior to the tungstens this was probably more accurate. But for most mere mortals its not a real factor... Some folks have driven Tungstens and are happy. But the argument of how much power is needed to SPL levels will always be a debate. Amazing to me that there are cans...

Being a Schiit MJ3 thread my conclusion is fast netting out MJ3 will drive most any headphone out there. Very Well. It will allow you to be able to see what your headphone is capable of. Period. Its that good here. Except for running hot and isnt the best measuring amp its near a perfect true...

The reason I bought the closed version of the Verites was because I wanted a closed back for listening and not disturbing others. For this purpose these cans are very good.. Excellent quality and overall build. ZMF folks are first rate! We all hear differently and so many good choices out...

Ok couldn't wait until tomorrow!! LOL! Verite Closed backs, same dac same source.. Cans are really decent but compared to the HE1000SE's they are not as good with my ears and taste. The bass is not as well defined and the soundstage is not as open with the more "bright" HE1000 SE's. I think...

After 4 hrs of listening with the MJ3 + Soekris 2541 dac NOS multibit, HE 1000Se's.. Rating it a solid 9.7 !! Close to perfect hear across many types of music. With well recorded source its almost perfect. Uncanny at times.. Moving on to ZMF Verites tomorrow.. Alex

One of the track I have never heard on the Raincoat CD is track 12, "If It Be Your Will"...there are some very deep bass :rollers; in there that might get unnoticed on lesser cans that dont dig real low...a nice test and great to listen to... and the Live "Joan of Arc" in Antwerp is fantastic...

Another great singer is often overlooked as well..

Jennifer Warnes was often overlooked as a B side singer...but IMO she is FIRST Class... If you like the Famous Blue Raincoat take a listen to her The Hunter as well....

I had this old small speed controlled fan for I think graphic cards in pcs'..I used it to sit on top of an Onkyo 805 AVR that ran HOT when watching movies. I put it on to of my MJ3 to take some of the heat away etc..yeah its not necessary but I am anal in this dept... Very quiet....and the MJ3...

This am its my HE1000Se's and Soekris 2541 with MJ3. Like HIGH gain with these cans and SE/PP off, No Feedback. Notice bass with MJ3 is very deep and controlled. Just superb. The depth and resolution is about as good as I have experienced. Really close to TOTL stuff....just varying flavors and...

Listening to Diana Krall, East of the Sun... MJ3, HE1000SE's, NOS dac... Wonderful! Coffee is great..especially in this old NAVY style mug, no handle! :>) ...and yeah its not black!! Navy guys would call me out on this for sure!

Hello! I dont like to opine about non Schiit stuff in this thread out of respect for Jason and Schiit Audio. That said Jason has always welcomed non Schiit stuff at Schiit meets etc.... I guess as long as your not actively engaged in promoting other competing vendors stuff mentioning other...
