Extremely extremely true. May level is where I find dacs start diverging fairly significantly sound wise while maintaining similar overall performance levels- eskamobob1

Certain examples of dacs competing above where their new pricing indicates doesn't mean that no improvements are left to be had. Also, just fwiw, the may being an end all dac, much the less just generally pleasing isn't exactly a universal take. I'm personaly not a fan of it even in comparison...- eskamobob1

The Sennheiser HE1 and how I came back after 16 years hiatus from Headfi (acquisition, unboxing, installation, and impressions over time)
They span the price gambit. Last I checked a Ohio class platform was 1500-2500 depending on size- eskamobob1

I was very seriously considering a an SRA stand for mine (before it's tumble at least). They custom tune to the exact product and are shockingly reasonably priced for what they are and the involvement. May be worth cross shopping thr two- eskamobob1

Totaly agree. He60 is the true senn totl option. Litteraly just hd6x0 series but with all the complaints fixed. Incredible can and cheaper than most other totl options to boot (imo he90 and he1 are well past the 'totl' designation)- eskamobob1

I mean, tangent slightly, but I am still convinced that a passive HE1 would significantly surpass the whole locked down package that the system currently is. IMO, similar money to an HE1 spend on an HE90 system (say thrax maximinus mk2 -> viva STX (WE300b) -> He90) pretty significantly surpasses...- eskamobob1

HE60 can be had ~2k USD. Its an extremly competitive can in that price point IMO (if you happen to be on the fence about one)- eskamobob1

Fake ad. The pics have been used on a number of scam ads before. Pretty sure the OG pics are from a 2015 audiogon ad (at least that's the earliest time I can find them used)- eskamobob1

He1 us pretty extremely colored tbh. It's an extremely nice coloration, but it's absalutely pretty rich and warm (especialy through the mids) with a little bit of mid-bass bloom (compaired to he90, shang, etc). I wouldn't form opinions on gear off of sound demos if I were you- eskamobob1

Look up their replacement part catalogue. It will tell you what is in and out of stock. I can link it after work, but am about to start all day meetings- eskamobob1

Fwiw, ear pads are currently in stock at senn in Germany. Might be worth reaching out to the German CS line to see if you can buy some direct to the us. Maybe they will have better response times than the us line- eskamobob1

This seems to be where the disconnect between us is. I don't see how it's any different than physical tuning when it's how the unit arrives. I personaly see 0 reason to make a distinction between stock eq and stock damping tuning- eskamobob1

I'm haven't said people shouldn't be comparing eqed cans to eachother. I'm saying that viewing a comparison as unfair when it's stock for stock is wierd.- eskamobob1

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
Internal vs external is the focus for me. Esentialy OEM vs aftermarket. I view it as comparing, say, a stage 2 chip in a car vs just getting the higher end model. It's certainly an interesting comparison, but viewing tuning (which is what I consider external eq to be) as required for a fair...- eskamobob1

I don't think this is a good comparison even if it was how cars are reviewed (it absalutely is not btw). If audeze wants customers to experience their EQ, then they should force that upon customers like warwick do. Stock for stock is the only comparison baseline that makes sense imo- eskamobob1

Vintage OG and Present Day TOTL Impressions
.... why? One is doing a hardware eq while the other needs external software. Why should these methods be equated? To me, this is kind of like saying you should pad roll all cans to a similar target if you want comparisons to be fair. If it's not how most customers will use the product I'm not...- eskamobob1
