Just to follow up on the question of Abyss 1266 + Aegis - I don't recommend it. I tested my 1266 Phi the other day, and I basically had to turn the volume to the max to get a loud listening volume. Keep in mind, this is already with a boosted input voltage using my Freya S Nexus differential...

Honestly, I thought ya'll were exaggerating about this combination....I was wrong. Gonna wire things up so I can switch to the OTL as my pre-amp for all the amps via my Freya. Right now it is just pre-amping the Aegis.

Loving this combination! TAD rectifier + RCA 5961s, and Tung-sol 6550s. The 6550s seem to have a larger sounstage and more airy sound compared to the stock JJ and the GEC KT8C power tubes.

I've noticed that when changing tubes, since some can be difficult to install/remove, there is movement in the platform/mounting of all the tubes within the chassis from pressing/pulling on the tubes. Is there any chance for causing damage to the sockets or PCBs that they are mounted to?
