DROP + GRELL OAE1
According to Axel, both bass - heavier and bass - lighter pads are in the works. But I have heard of no release date yet for them.- Trinkle

DROP + GRELL OAE1
I ordered this one, I think the bass light pads will really help in fixing the tonality towards my own personal preferences. The pads may be made in collaboration with Axel Grell, since in his interview he mentioned them. And if I do not like it, I trust there will be enough nerds to pay me a...- Trinkle

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
Susvara OG is a commonplace headphone hahahahha But to be fair they did mention the "mesh with a lower opening ratio" :D- Trinkle

Sorry I do not exactly remember may be Viva Forever by Spice Girls or Sweet Surrender by Sarah McLachlan. I returned the headphone after a week so can't recreate the experiment either :(- Trinkle

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
I did not come in this thread to profess the merits measurements, I was trying to get impressions of the Susvara Unveiled and see how much the new concept helps. I saw someone insinuated ASR measurements are useless regarding the Susvara OG, I mentioned that Keith's measurements also point out...- Trinkle

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
You are bringing in timing but you are ignoring the distortion graphs and the resonances found in their measurements, (both by Amir and Keith Howard independently). Keith Howard has mentioned resonances so has Amir. Amir mentioned hearing static. Now I heard static on HE1000SE multiple times on...- Trinkle

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
I am not that rich yet, to spend 6K USD for something that may sound good and measure bad, for now I intend to buy things that sound good and measure okay. But someday I might :)- Trinkle

NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!
Its not just ASR, Keith Howard's measurements were also not favourable. For this price I would hope to get better results. https://headphonetestlab.co.uk/test-results-manufacturers-e-h-hifiman-susvara- Trinkle

DROP + GRELL OAE1
KK understood! What I am trying to say is that to find out how much the angling of drivers help individually to increase the soundstage, we should kind of decrease the bass to the levels of the other headphones we compare with, as bass elevation generally has an effect on soundstage, that is if...- Trinkle

You mentioned the tuning is probably for fun rather than being analytical. What did you mean by that, I interpreted excess bass by that.- Trinkle

DROP + GRELL OAE1
I think the comparison to flesh out how much soundstage has been improved due to angling will only be fair when the bass is subdued. With excessive bass soundstage sort of shrinks and it will probably overwhelm part of the extra soundstage provided due to the angling. Yeah for head to head...- Trinkle

DROP + GRELL OAE1
Some information I gathered from forums and a german review. In audiosciencereview someone posted a FR graph of a flat genelec speaker when measured using B&K 4128 head and ear simulator. It has similar dips like the OAE-1 so I guess we have less to worry about...- Trinkle

BTW does anyone know what was the volume level while plotting this graph , want to compare against the graph of HD 800S available at other places.- Trinkle

DROP + GRELL OAE1
I am not an acoustic engineer, but I have my 2 cents, most other headphones probably have longer spectral decays compared to OAE-1 due to lingering resonances and specifically in the lower frequencies, and thus the lower frequencies probably mask the higher frequencies less in case of the OAE-1...- Trinkle

@Evshrug the graphs show that the OAE-1 has more dips than both the 650 in the 4K - 8K region. Do you feel that ? Does it seem less detailed than both 650 & 800 ?- Trinkle

@xlcans Congratulations on the release. (Happily ordered one). One question. Are the two dips at 6K and 10K intentional. I personally like some elevation in the human voice range this headphone has btw.- Trinkle

The dips in the high frequencies might not be ideal, but it seems the distortion is pretty low and the dips can easily be fixed with EQ. I am tired of waiting for Sennheiser HD900, and do not know when an upgraded version or non-drop of OAE will be released, so just pulled the trigger and...- Trinkle

With relatively cheap DACs coming with PEQ (Topping D 50 III), I personally think that small mistakes in the FR is less important than other factors like resonance, distortion, whether the driver geometry is aligned for soundstage or not etc, you can't fix those with EQ. If they are worried...- Trinkle

Not an audio engineer, but AFAIK, multiple things affect soundstage , driver size , driver angle, openness of the cups & frequency response. I think with HD 800S the size of the driver was bigger and they also tried to tamper with the frequency response to increase the soundstage. But once Dan...- Trinkle
