Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
@pure5152 Do you mean that you leave it on all that time, and that after a week of being on all the time it stabilizes into its best performance? I think that's what you mean but just want to be sure. I've never actually tried that.- FellowTraveller

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
Related to this issue, I'd like to ask the following very basic question. For those of you who leave the Bifrost or other Schiit multibit DACs on all the time, what do you use as a protection circuit? I mean is an ordinary surge protector power strip OK, or should it be something more powerful...- FellowTraveller

Hey, thanks a lot @33na3rd, it's nice to get the benefit of your wide range of experience. Of course separates would give me more room to play and experiment like that. An advantage I can appreciate.- FellowTraveller

Thank you @sixergixer (and @tincanear) for this suggestion. One advantage the Ragnarok has over the options I mentioned, besides being cheaper, is that it has balanced inputs, so I could use balanced cables between the Bifrost 2/64 and the Ragnarok. I'm not sure if that is an important advantage...- FellowTraveller

I'd like to ask what amps any of you have had very good experiences hooking up with the Schiit Kara preamp. Will explain. I am based in Southeast Asia and I use my two-channel setup in a rather large classroom for young adults from around Asia who want to improve their English and leadership...- FellowTraveller

I also use a hub connecting my MacBook Pro M1 to the Bifrost 2/64. And I had this same kind of issue. It turned out to be the hub that was the problem. It was a Ugreen hub that had been very reliable for 2 years, and it just started to not work properly anymore. Replacing the hub (with a new...- FellowTraveller

I have a very similar response to the BF2/64. Very pleased with it. Your take on the Yggy+ GS2 is interesting, and it's a great price. I can't justify picking that up now, though I may want to move to an Yggy in the future. Can you or someone comment on how the Yggy+ GS2 compares to the other...- FellowTraveller

I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy your upgrade. Make sure to give the new unit time to burn in. I'm also curious whether there's information out about the Gungnir 2; I myself haven't seen any, though I haven't actually looked for it very seriously yet.- FellowTraveller

I don't know if you have the original Modius or the newer Modius E with the Delta Sigma chip. But for what it's worth, I have both the Bifrost 2/64 and the Modius E, and for me there is no comparison. In other words the Bifrost 2/64 is far, far better. The biggest difference for me is that the...- FellowTraveller

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up
I've been listening to albums from Steely Dan and Donald Fagen again recently. And I'm reminded of how outstanding their recordings were. This is even more true, I think, of their later recordings, like Gaucho, Two Against Nature, Nightfly, and Morph the Cat. The placement and almost the shape...- FellowTraveller

I don't normally expect a DAC to have volume control. In my view, you'll be getting a really excellent, good sounding DAC in the Bifrost 2/64, and I'm sure you'll be able to figure out an appropriate way to control the volume. Schiit also has a return policy if you buy the SYS and feel that it...- FellowTraveller

Yes, that would make sense. It's the kind of situation SYS is designed for, and it's only $50. I also have a Macbook, and I don't know of any way of controlling the master volume when you plug in a DAC, other than from inside the specific app you're using, as you mentioned.- FellowTraveller

Schiit Audio Bifrost 2
Just to clarify, Bifrost 2/64 is a DAC only. It has no preamp function and no volume control. You would need to run the Bifrost output to some kind of headphone or speaker amp.- FellowTraveller
