Astell&Kern Launches KANN Ultra DAP and AK HB1 Bluetooth Amp/DAC
Thank you for the help @JasonNYC It’s my first A&K DAP. While I’m impressed with the sound, it’s the opposite experience with Software. It’s so restricted. May I ask why A&K uses such a custom closed version of Android and not provide the full Android experience to their users like all other...- nioh

Astell&Kern Launches KANN Ultra DAP and AK HB1 Bluetooth Amp/DAC
Does A&K ever provide any updates to their devices ? I’m starting to think that getting the Kann Ultra was a big mistake. Apple Music is still version 4.6.0 which is from January. Latest Android version is 4.8.0. Clearly A&K has the worst Software of all the DAP brands out there. Anyone knows...- nioh

iBasso DX180 Got your music? Enjoy the concert! Released and ready to play.
It says right there on the product page on their website that you get a 10% off for everything when you have an account on the website and buy using that account. I haven’t tried it but it sounds like all you need to do is create an account, there is no code. Actually not. Here are the details...- nioh

I just remembered. There’s a new EU seller for iBasso products that opened some months ago. Here it costs €450 with their 10% discount you get for registering...- nioh

iBasso DX180 Got your music? Enjoy the concert! Released and ready to play.
Bloom Audio is promoting iBasso a bit too much because they just became the new official dealer for iBasso there. New partnership and all. Take it with a grain of salt.- nioh

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!
You're welcome. All IFI devices I have owned till date (including their dongles) supported UAC1. Both Zen DAC 1 and 2 also had it. Perhaps you did not notice it because unlike other manufacturers, IFI devices don't have a switch for UAC. It switches automatically based on the source. In other...- nioh

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!
I would say it depends on what sound signature you like. FiiO is usually more reference like. IFI is on the warmer, more musical side. Zen DAC 3 for me is not overly warm compared to the previous Zen DACs and adds more soundstage and details in the high-end too. You said you only use the USB...- nioh

SONY NW-ZX700
Warranty is local to the region where you purchase it. This is true for almost every electronic product. You will have to send it back to your seller in Japan and they can get it repaired at Sony Japan and send it back. You’ll have to pay the international shipping charges. Although a DAP like...- nioh

iBasso DX180 Got your music? Enjoy the concert! Released and ready to play.
Talking of UI, can someone please share some pics of the “new” iBasso UI ? Previously iBasso DAPs had no special UI features to talk about, it was just plain Android and Apkpure. However the new DAP is said to have Google Apps and a brand new UI with Android 13 which I’m really curious about...- nioh

iBasso DX180 Got your music? Enjoy the concert! Released and ready to play.
Best EU dealer for iBasso and other Chi-fi brands is NT Global. You can buy the DX180 from here - https://hifi-passion.de/iBasso-DX180/HL02344 It seems like it’s not yet available in stock at NT Global. If you want it now, you can order from the Bulgarian shop (ibasso-shop.eu). Stay away from...- nioh

If only the XD05Pro had a switch for UAC1 audio, I would have used it with my PS5 as well. Almost perfect except this one tiny missing feature for me.- nioh

Hiby R6 Pro II (2023 Edition) - Launch, Hype, Thoughts & More
Seems like a WiFi range issue. DAPs have lesser range compared to phones due to extra shielding to avoid noise etc. Although in my experience the Hiby R6P2 has decent range, I don’t have to sit next to my router. You can try the following. - In your router, separate the 2.4ghz and 5ghz into...- nioh

iBasso DX180 Got your music? Enjoy the concert! Released and ready to play.
This is a downside of niche markets. Manufacturers purchase DAC chips in bulk and then keep churning out new devices with the same chips until they run out of inventory. Only few brands are bold enough to adopt to the latest stuff as they are released and these brands are usually much more...- nioh

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!
On my Windows 11 PC, I also cannot change volume of the Zen DAC 3. The volume slider has no effect. It’s not a problem and it’s actually better this way to not be confused by 2 separate volume controls (analog and digital)- nioh

Biggest problem with the Burson V5i-d is the noise floor. It’s higher than all the other op-amps I’ve tested that fits in the XD05Pro.- nioh

Cayin N30LE DAP: A Transformative Milestone (30th Anniv. Limited Edition)
Just get an IFI DAC/AMP for the PS5. I use the new Zen DAC 3 but all of their products are UAC1 compatible and the switch is automatic. If you want to use a DAP for gaming (meaning no latency), you would need one with an XMOS chip.- nioh

A&K SE 300 Battery Life
When you get the unit back, test the battery without installing any additional apps if possible. Most of the times it’s the apps that eat the battery. Some apps also run in the background and consume battery even when the app is not being used.- nioh

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!
Normally I don't write reviews or detailed impressions. This one definitely deserved it ! Sadly I don't have the original Zen DAC anymore as I gave it away to a friend so I can't say what are the differences in sound. From my memory perhaps you are right, it does sound like it has a slightly...- nioh

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!
Zen DAC V3 has finally arrived ! Took a long time. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is how lightweight it is compared to the original Zen DAC. I looked at the specifications just to confirm and yes it weighs half the original at just 450g. The new design is an eye catcher...- nioh

Fully agree. Judging a DAC based on measurements is no different than doing benchmarks of mobile chipsets, far from real-life scenarios.- nioh
