This music is incredible; this song in particular is simply beautiful. Thanks for the suggestion, mate.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Sr. Ibarra is the drummer and band leader here. A suggestion by jazz mentor @earnmyturns; a good one - indeed similar to Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band, meaning tremendous. Incredibly beautiful. Hell Yes. She has four albums out - good ... I want more of her. The point of this album...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

The SQ of the remixed / remastered version is tremendous - a big step up. I've owned this music for many years; never has it sounded so good. Thanks Qobuz for the 24/96 version. The term "live in studio" has a different meaning for this band. What a blast! That's the band's leader, Michael...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I've tasted the 15, 20 and 23, and preferred the 15. It was quite good, but now even the 15 is unobtainium. Back in the day, I remember being in the Party Source in Newport, KY, across the river from Cincinnati. They had several versions of Pappy on the shelves. I did notice the name but didn't...

What book are you reading right now?

Samuel Clemens learns how to be a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi. It's like learning a language that changes from day to night and over time, as well.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

I listen to only about three heavy metal bands, and Opeth is my favorite. They are so emotionally complex and still fun at the same time. Album produced by Steven Wilson ... good move, mates. The source here is a ripped CD to FLAC at 16/44.1 resolution. DR is 11 - nice. Studio album from...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

In my first college dorm room at Purdue - 1976 - we had a pair of Bose 301 bookshelf speakers. We thought they sounded great. That was a long time ago. :-)

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Wow ... 2.5-hrs long, should be great - thanks. Also thanks to @earnmyturns for a very interesting album, recorded in Cuba. I love the rhythm down there. Announcing incoming additions to the house ... which one to sample first? :-)

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

The best thing about Qobuz, for me, was to discover all the remastered old jazz recordings. Pick an artist and work thru their discography - that is a blast, to hear how they change over time. There are way too many of those recordings to own 'em all. YMMV as always. :) ps. Charles Mingus is a...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

If you do, I recommend a subscription to Qobuz. It's easy to explore new music, and to buy it, if you so desire. I think my basic subscription costs $10.83/month. The quality even of their 16/44.1 music is very good. For today - I've not ever listened to this music, but discovered that Todd...

I'm so happy with the Gungnir MB that I bought a 2nd one just before the BRUZ chips exited the scene to become guided missiles. I have no 2-chan gear and listen only to headphones. :-)

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have a friend who has a cochlear implant in one ear. It replaced a hearing aid after that no longer worked for him. He said it was like learning a new language with 1/2 of his brain, but, after a while it improved his quality of life...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

This is the 2013 Japan remaster CD - dynamic range is 13. A tad bright as the Japan remasters tend to be. Here, the revenge of the invasive plant species. Impressive progressiveness abounds, and Phil Collins is a helluva drummer. The 2023 remaster that also contains the Steven Wilson remixes...

On a mission to like jazz

You bet - my pleasure! It is fantastic. Brian is my favorite drummer right now - in all genres. That means a lot, because there are many talented drummers out there ... Brian is just - different. Drumming here is Vinnie Colaiuta - he's superb as well. :-)
