Looking to upgrade my DAC from ADI-2 to something better . Any recommendations?

I use a Topping E70 9028Pro in 5 volt mode with an A70Pro and optical USB going to a powered hub and it's end game. When a DAC hits 123-125 SINAD there's really nowhere else to go for upgrading. I've had the Octo and Velvet versions and no way to tell the difference.

    Cheapest openback headphones?

Try for a Drop PC37x headset on eBay, which you can get for $35 on a good day. They sound great and the mic flips up out of the way to just use them as headphones. To get neutral tuning for a flat sound, use APO and Peace to equalize them with settings here to flatten them out...

IEM recommendation for people with narrow ear canal

I've had the variations and something slimmer that sounds excellent is the Sennheiser IE600. I couldn't believe how small they were and really accurate imaging. Also if you look at a size chart for Sonicfoam tips and check the smallest size, it can be a good shipping list for IEMs with the...

    Introducing SMSL DL100 CS43131*4 BT5.1 MQA-CD Audio DAC

I've had the DL200 and it looks good, but a different chipset with similar power. Is it replacing the DL200 since the pricing looks similar? The form factor is excellent on these because you can fit any full size amplifier on top of it. Having the headphone jack far away from the volume wheel is...

Best Headphone amp for me please? Thanks

For $130 used with 1 year warranty you can get an SMSL C200 amp DAC combo for $130 on Amazon. I have two of them and they're really nice. It'll be a huge upgrade in power and sound quality. For mobile use the Topping G5 is kingpin for $180 used currently for portability.

    Please recommend Flagship headphones!!!

The Dan Clark Stealth might be the only one to tick all the boxes. The other alternative is equalizing. The Arya Stealth is one of my favorite headphones, and they can take some EQ to change them quite a bit if you have power for a preamp reduction. APO and Peace will do it, and the Autoeq...

Did i choose the wrong headphone? Maxwell vs HD600

The Beyerdynamic DT770 250 ohm would be better for what your looking for. The bass extends down and is very authoritative when the song calls for it. The HD600 can be equalized well to bring out bass response. Bass extension that doesn't drop off early is what makes them so fun. APO equalizer...

Has Anyone Else Gone Up Then Back Down the Audio Gear Ladder?

I've got a business and have been to the mountaintop for headphones and amp/DACs. My daily driver is a Hifiman HE5XX I got open box for $100 and a Topping EX5 I got for $105. The tech has gotten so good and prices come down compared to 10 years ago, even a simple setup sounds terrific...

best closed back at every price point from 100-3000+ what would it be?

The best value for money that I've had is the new Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X which need some EQ for music but gaming ready out of the box. The DT177X from Drop is also really nice, fun in Destiny 2 and really comfortable. I didn't like the Hifiman Audivina, not worth the price at all. Aria...

DAC to replace the HFM EF400 (or HYMALAYA Upgrade Program?)

Before anything, if you use USB I'd get an optical USB cable and powered USB hub. I just did it and the noise floor reduction was really noticable. Using a Topping e70 and A70Pro and it's end game, just flawless. I like the 9028 version more than the Velvet edition.

The JDS Labs would be easier to sell just because of their name recognition. More people searching on eBay or Google shopping.

    Moondrop Blessing 3 worth it?

If you've heard the Sennheiser HD600 the Blessing 3 is the IEM version of them. They're neutral and easy to equalize. Good if you want a predictable set with no surprises.

Which amplifier do you recommend for Susvara?

I have a Topping A70Pro and with a 5 volt DAC like the affordable SMSL DL200 which fits right under it, the combo is a value for money winner. Having headroom to equalize is paramount to get the best from those.

    Next IEMS

Sounds like the Artti T10 will do it. I think they have the best bass of any IEM and not overblown, but will put the hammer down when the song calls for it. Also the nicest cables I've seen on IEMs.

    NEW HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled!

They always start the price sky high and then when it comes down to $3800 you feel like you stole it. I had the Audivina for 3 weeks and at $2,000 I knew it wasn't worth near that. I've had most of their line and I think the Arya Stealth is the best one. Can get one open box with 18 month...

Recomendations for the best cost (HD6XX vs HD560S vs Others at same price point)

The Thieaudio Ghost competes with the Sennheiser HD600 at 1/3rd the price and beats the 500 series hands down. If you can get them near the $119 retail here it's a huge win. You do need a mild amplifier though, even a Sound blaster X1 or Tanchjim Space on balanced will be fine.

    Next IEMS

The KZ PR2 has a 40 percent off coupon at Amazon and just got a pair. Planar fun but better tuning than the Letshoer S12 in my opinion for $27 which is amazing. An amplifier is needed though, a phone or dongle won't be enough.

    Thicker cable as new trend?

Much less tangling, it's a good idea. The Artti IEM cables are like that, substantial and not rigid but will never tangle.

Stupid question: Is there a USB-C to 2 pin DAC+cable that can make my Blessing 3 sound like the dusk?

If you get an Apple 3.5mm to USB adapter for $9 you'll have all the power you need to equalize the sound in a music player and do a preamp reduction to compensate. I've had the Blessing 3 and they're pretty neutral which makes them really easy to equalize. I use Poweramp for Android which has...

    *Decision* IEM vs True Wireless

The Sennheiser Momentum 3 are the best wireless buds I've heard. I've had those Sonys too, and you'll like the detail and clarity of the Momentum 3 a lot better. Mids are realistic and treble is consistent out of the box. I just used the phone app to update the firmware but you really don't need...

Learning Parametric Equalization, how do I begin this journey to some degree of being a pro?

Also I was on the phone before so didn't have this handy to post. This should give a good starting point to see the ranges. Whippedcreamsounds did a good job on it.

Any advice regarding a portable dac/amp?

There's no beating the performance of the Topping G5. I've had several for the business. At 10 ounces it's hefty. The Tanchjim Space is the best dongle, the 4.4mm is impressive for its size on power and SINAD.

Does it make sense to be an audio purist?

I usually just EQ some bass in a music player and play games out of the box on most things. There's many good choices you can usually get really close to your preference at affordable prices. If you want pure then the Beyerdynamic MMX Gen1 is flat as a pancake as it's based on the Signum HD400...
