SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2
Is that just the ZX707 though? I have a UC unit, and the "High gain output" is available on mine.- Mercuttio

SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2
I am as guilty of this as anyone, but people place entirely too much on the “Made In” moniker. That is the final point of assembly, and increasingly that is done where it is cheapest for products that aren’t terribly difficult to assemble. Nikon, for example, manufactures most lenses in Thailand...- Mercuttio

Well hey! That's my video. Hope people here liked that- it's not exactly technical or generally aimed at the enthusiast. Mostly I wanted to show how nice the thing looks on a variety of surfaces.- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
@nvs019 I use the AM2 primarily for the A8000, but on hot days I do run them out of my Ragnarok. I also use them with my Switch, Steamdeck, and even Gameboy Color from time to time.- Mercuttio

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Out of sheer curiosity, I ran Angel on my D8000 to see what would happen- no issues what-so-ever. Stock pads (though I do have some Pro pads I haven't used yet) and running through the balanced output of a Ragnarok V2. Was it ever confirmed that this issue was something Final addressed in...- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
Ah, yeah that is a bummer. Does anyone based in the USA or Japan ship to India? A shame if they do not. I suppose on the positive side, MMCX is a standard connector, and perhaps there is something local that would work?- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
Final makes a very good MMCX 4.4 balanced cable themselves- I'd probably suggest that, considering the ease of cable removal with the custom tool included with the A8000.- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
I found it very bright and almost piercing for the first 6 months of use in some music. They took much longer to burn in than anything else I’ve had. I think I’ve been using them for three years at this point.- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
Final just kind of knows what's up now, or at least how I want to hear stuff. I tried some of their closed back headphones years ago and really didn't care for them- but all the 8000 series products have just totally knocked it out of the park. Here's the factory / showroom in Kawasaki...- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
I actually prefer the sound of the A8000 out of the Sony as an original source compared to the Bifrost 2. Mine is the older version of the DAC though, not the newest version with the twin Ti DACs or whatever they are. I do have a balanced 4.4 to dual mono XLR connection to go from the Sony to...- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
Frankly, I'm not sure where Sony really takes over the signal chain. A lot of the system messages the first time you boot it up are about the "aging cycle" (burn in) required for the fancy capacitors inside to reach their true audio potential. I would say that the balanced output is excellent...- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
As mentioned I like mine a ton with the Sony NW-WM1AM2. I use it out of the normal 3.5mm jack, and use my D8000 balanced with the 4.4 balanced. I find that to power both extremely well, and have a very natural sound.- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
That thing is intense. I do a lot of my A8000 listening on the Sony NW-WM1AM2. If the LPGT sounds better than the NW-WM1AM2 (and for the price I'd bet it does) then it's going to sound incredible with the A8000.- Mercuttio

Final A8000 Beryllium Diaphragm Dynamic IEM Comments and Impressions
The A8000 benefits from burn-in more than any other headphone I've ever heard, in my 15+ years of being into headphones. I would assume that is partially the rigidity of the driver, but I am not entirely sure. I can say that I find my A8000 to be the most balanced, clean sounding headphone...- Mercuttio

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Does anyone have a recommendation for an XLR Balanced cable for the D8000? I don't feel like the nearly $700 price of the silver cable is going to be worth it for me- but I'd love to find something around $300 or below.- Mercuttio

Comment by 'Mercuttio' on listing 'Elekit TU-8200 R - Rare Japanese Headphone / Speaker Amplifier'
For those who are curious, I am happy to drop the price by $50-100 depending on your proximity to Burlington, VT. This thing is heavy, so it majorly cuts down on shipping if you’re in the North East. Thanks!- Mercuttio

I'm starting to move further up the source / amplifier chain, and it's time to let this gorgeous tube amplifier go. These are very rare as built units, and require a reasonable amount of skill to assemble. I've seen this unit (without tubes) selling for $1200+ on eBay, simply because of the...- Mercuttio

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
Bass Cannon is unfair. It just places bass as the first and foremost- I listened to a pair for a while and remember being really impressed. Bass, sure, but never muddy or untextured. I think for the right person there might be nothing better. Flipside, I've never heard the sonorous VI but if...- Mercuttio

Final Audio D8000 Planar Magnetic Headphone
I'm not sure about ordering directly from Final in Japan, but all of the stores seemed to only stock the black non-pro. For example, at Yodobashi: https://www.yodobashi.com/?word=D8000 There are D8000s floating around out at retail, but only in black. Seems like the silver is almost a custom...- Mercuttio
