    ZMF Aegis Official Thread

I bought my adapter from @Deyan, and if you PM him he will take care of you. He has been making adapters for the tube guys in this forum for years and knows his stuff.

The Mullard 807 Black Plate Double Square Getters are in the amp, and I am loving what I am hearing. There is grip, weight, power, detail and stage expansion for days in all directions. The 807 is throwing a deeper stage front to back than any other output tube I have rolled so far, and most...

Today's first combo, and this one is really making the CC's sing, and is bringing the musicality in spades. Input - Reflektor 1579 60' Output - Mullard EL33 Rectifier - Mullard GZ32 Black Plate More to come on the sound specifics, but I do want to mention the EL33 are fantastic, and can be...

Some notes I joted down last night while listening, with the CC and Aegis pairing. . . .there is grip and texture for days. The music is alive and notes are floating all around my head, while just exploding out of thin air with the CC, with more note weight than the HA300MK2, yet still crisper...

So, now that I have rolled quite a few tubes in the Aegis, I am learning how incredible this amp really is. I have several really good combos that are equally amazing and sound totally different. This amp responds better to tube changes more than any tube amp I have ever owned. I think due to...

I don't have my Ori anymore, but that was my first love and one I can still remember quite well. I have actually been chatting with Zach about this, and how while listening with the CC's, I do get some Ori vibes. The way the sound jumps way outside the cups yet remains weighty and smooth is...

Many are actually preferring medium as well as low Z, with the CC and Aegis. This makes since to me, seeing as it's an easier to drive planar. Of course though it depends on preferences and gear in chain as well.

I feel like saying the Aegis is super quiet is selling it a bit short. I think a better way to put is dead silent.

I am using the stock configuration (pads and mesh) for the CC, and 1/4" L with Aegis.

"Chomping at the bit", and rightly so. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Shouldn't be much longer now man, and I can't wait for you to hear it.

Low for me, from the 1/4" at the moment, but I do like Middle as well.

With the right tubes, I have gotten the Aegis to stage better (more open in all directions) than the HA300MK2. I actually think due to the better balance, clarity and speed of the Aegis, that you can get bigger changes with tube rolls.

When you get the Aegis, I bet it will quell that thirst for any other amps to pair with the CC.

The HA300MK2 has more lower mids emphasis, of which creates a bit of haze. This is only obvious after hearing the Aegis directly after. The Aegis still has good lower mid warmth and weight, but it's not overdone and blown out like with the HA300MK2. You can certainly use tubes to get the...

I find the tonality I get with the Aegis more lifelike than I did with the HA300MK2. Tonality and timbre are the two most important aspects of sound for me.

The grip this amp has on the drivers is just flat out incredible. I thought my HA300MK2 had grip and it does, but the Aegis has it bested. This is a big thing for me, as I love bass and a weighty sound, and the Aegis with the right tubes, most certainly delivers. The CC's sound powerful and...
