tried to add this above but ran into the character limit... *edit*. came back to share something interesting I found. Check out the graph of the Canon 2 in DD configuration (with about +2db of EQ at 32Hz), against the 7th Acoustics Supernova, and the Thieaudio Prestige LTD.... almost like they...- DunninLA

https://hbb.squig.link/?share=IEF_Comp_Target,Bad_Guy_2022_Target,Yanyin_Canon_DD,Prest_Ltd In follow up to my post just above, I have settled in a tuning for the Canon 2 I like a lot, just using basic EQ in my Macbook called MacEQ. The above link shows a graph of Canon 2 in DD, compared with...- DunninLA

Night Oblivion Butastur thread
yes your points help. What do you think of all the posts that say the stock cable isn't good and you have to hunt and peck to find a source that these IEM get along with... then mention a $300 dongle dac as the better match?- DunninLA

Night Oblivion Butastur thread
Hi guys, was thinking of trying this one but came across three things that give me pause... BTW my current IEM is Canon 2, that I sometimes run in down/down, and sometimes in up/down. Usually down/down for well recorded music. Penon Liqueur Orange tips, stock cable... actually stock cable from...- DunninLA

I am the second owner. The first owner didn't get a fit so they were like new when I bought them 12 weeks ago. I've used them about 50 hours. I use Penon Liqueur Orange tips, with Final Audio E Type second best to my ear fitment. Have moved on to Canon 2. The cable (pictured) is not...- DunninLA

I am sorry you did not spend time with the DD configuration. I've had mine for about 200 hours now. Started DD for maybe 2 minutes, then on to UD, then UU. Spent the next 195 hours in UD. Using Penon Liqueur Orange tips. The other day I just thought.... what if I turn the midbass down...- DunninLA

Comfort of current Theiaudio iems?
I had the Hype2 and found them too "long", that is, the back fat portion of the IEM pressed against the back of my ear and after maybe half an hour it bothered me. If anyone had/has Clairvoyance and also Hype2, is the Clairvoyance larger or smaller?- DunninLA

The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.
RE: Pressurizing the room / aka pressurizing your ear canal I've noticed in watching loudspeaker reviews that a phrase has come up often with regard to using subwoofers in addition to speakers that already handle frequencies down to 30 Hz.... "pressurizing the room", as in "Sure I have the...- DunninLA

nice review. I have the Hype2 and ultimately couldn't get along with it for two reasons: 1) it is a little large for my ears, giving discomfort after about an hour, and 2) the midrange was at the same time recessed, but sharp sounding. Not sure if the 17k spike on the graph contributes to...- DunninLA

@earlybirdthr33 Nothing fancy. I know there are very sophisticated parametric equalizers. but I'm just using a basic 11 band macEQ, a free EQ download for macbooks. And yes, I pull up a graph of the Mega5est, such as the one on HBB's squiglink, and pull up my Canon2 graph on the same...- DunninLA

wasn't sure where to post this, but this seems as good a place as any. Just watche the headphones.com youtube quick long term review of this IEM. Made me curious about relaxed pinna gain Since I like forward vocals so much, never occurred to me I might like that signature. So, went to my...- DunninLA

Like your review format very much. Only addition I would make is to make general comparisons to perhaps 2-3 more IEMs... not many have the EPZ530... more had the Timeless 7Hz so that helped.- DunninLA

AÜR AUDIO IEMs
You comment here deserves to be highlighted. It is almost axiomatic in sales/marketing that people generally attribute quality to products based upon list price. The assumption, as with you, is that the higher price, even if not 100% true, means high quality... after all, if people pay it...- DunninLA

The discovery thread!
...However, it has to be more complicated than that... really everything affects everything. If you look at FR graphs of Hype2 and Cannon 2, Hype2 *should* have more forward vocals, but it is just the opposite. I have no idea why. And yes, I have both. I used those clips to help me choose...- DunninLA

well, for sure everyone has a unique hearing apparatus, but still let me flesh out what I meant by that comment. First, i'm not the only one who has said that. I was watching a review by Tony (akros) and he said exactly the same thing -- Hype2 has recessed mids. Perhaps our ears are similar...- DunninLA

Ah, well, different strokes, as they say. I've just decided to sell my Hype2 after spending time with Canon 2. We hear the Hype2 midband completely differently. I hear the Hype2, compared to the Canon 2, or EJ07m, or Olina Se, even Hexa, as recessed, stepped back on the stage, veiled. A...- DunninLA

The discovery thread!
I've had the Canon 2 for about 10 hours in ears, and just now went back to the Hype2 to make sure I'm hearing what I think I'm hearing... Yep, Canon 2 crushes Hype2. But not where you might think... not in the bass. Both basses are fine, though I slightly prefer the bass texture of the Canon...- DunninLA

Late to the party but I appreciate the review above and based on them I did buy a pair used off the Classifieds here. I also have the Hype2, but was dissatisfied with the vocals not being forward on stage enough for my taste. My setup is basic, so YMMV. I play only out of an Apple Dac, either...- DunninLA

Low end. Cheap. Generic. Otherwise bang for buck cable thread!
OK so my Canon 2 arrived today, This gave me a chance to weigh the stock cables Olina SE, stock cable, 3.5 2 pin termination: 13.9 grams Hype2 stock cable, 3.5 2 pin termination: 26.6 grams Canon 2, stock cable, 4.4 2 pin termination: 29.1 grams (3.5 termination likely weighs 28 grams)...- DunninLA
