1. I say to the measurement Gestapo: If you cannot measure soundstage width+depth, ambience, textural richness, rhythmical coherence, gestalt and so on just ST*U and listen. Sorry for my French... 2. Me too have no Tungsten here, also ordered. 3. Fist day the difference was tiny but while time...- Zapacat

...that more of the sound of the room where the recording is made becomes more obvious - I figure whatever this does it quiets the signal/ground so that these faint things become more audible. THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
You can just some ask DIYer to re-terminate the plug with new one. The LCD5's cable use a neutrik plug that cost only around $15 or less, no way Audeze will ever charge you $600 for this repair.- TheMiddleSky

Since 30 years I put adhesive copper sheets on IC's and opamps connected thru a 33nF capacitor to ground. I experimented with different crystals on top of mains transformers with surprising results. I could not believe what I heard. So I invited some audiophile friends and made a blindtest with...- Zapacat

Yeah I though about that too. But in this case, if the balanced circuit doesn't sound much different than a single-ended circuit, I think 3.5 might be a better solution. Better to connect directly than to an adapter.- Lemondante

Believe it or not, the tracks I liked were kinda busy tracks, 16 bits but well recorded and mastered. I think That's why. The other recordings I didn't enjoy as much were 24 bits, newer recording, but I think instruments are recorded in the same room, un that case I don't think I can do much...- AmadisDeGaula

Bringing certain ground box elements & crystals to the cable itself is very much a real thing. There are a number of manufacturers who do it to varying degrees.- kingoftown1

Would be better to use a 4.4mm female to 2.5mm 3.5mm male adapter (PW Audio, DDHifi, Effect Audio) with a 4.4mm-4.4mm cable. These use the 3.5mm connector for ground, not available via 2.5mm otherwise.- toomasg

Cayin HA-3A, a Compact 6V6s Transformer-coupled Tube Amplifier
I have to mention that powering the audio gear from different outlets may cause ground loops. HA-3A isn’t that power hungry to be necessarily fed from dedicated outlet. Anyway you definitely should try this amp. Even with stock tubes it will be a real step up for you (just the way it was for me).- DrDen

Watts Up...?
...of the highest there is. I mean sticking a 99.99% pure copper rod into a pretty wooden box, filled with clean sand from Sahara, to be used as an extra pure ground point for one's DAC, would be seriously ridiculous to an objectivist. But some subectivists, may fall for it. So be careful out there!- Kentajalli

FLUX Mentor Class-A dual-mono headphone amplifier.
There's probably a mismatched between the HP output impedance from the mentor into the inputs of your pre-amp more likely than not and that's what you're probably hearing, that's why it's not recommended to do that in the first place.- Erick Muller
