The PENON official thread
Now with more listening time, I can say that the Voltage is almost perfect to my ears. I have been able to alleviate the lack of upper treble that I noticed in the first days with a copper/silver cable, and the A&K CA1000 as a source, which between the two add that pinch of air that I think the...- firesign

For me, it still lacks air / high treble to be considered TOTL. At least, with my most common sources. It is better with the A&K CA1000, it gives Voltage some extra air. Shame the A&K is not as portable as the DX160.- firesign

Every 64audio has a reduction in the upper mids frequencies that makes the sound a bit more relaxed, but not less coherent (at least for me), and it has a great impact making the scene bigger.- firesign

U4s is an improved (for me) and funnier version of the U12t, but with DD bass (the U6t is the simplified version of the U12t) 😉- firesign

I would like, buy I don't have Aetha... I still love the NP. I am a NP fan, not an AuR fan. I have only listened NP and Aurora (and I don't like Aurora).- firesign

This morning I've been directly comparing the U4s and the Voltage (for everyone who may be interested, since they are 2 IEMs with a fairly similar starting price, and they are also incredibly similar in terms of sound) using my headphone test list...- firesign

Rank the IEM's you've heard
LAST UPDATE: 29 MAY 2024 FIRESIGN IEM RANKING: 1) 64audio U4s (fun! great all-rounder, and versatile with Apex modules) 2) Penon Voltage (practically as good as number 1) 3) ThieAudio Monarch MK3 (a little too much bass and too much treble, but very fun) 4) AüR Audio Neon Pro (good for metal...- firesign

It's not a bad idea. I like its sound so much that I think it would be my first option to try a custom IEM...- firesign

No need to brain adjustment is really important. Every time I have needed brain adjustment, I have finished selling the IEM or headphone. I think I would use 011 and 111, depending the album. The cable is aesthetically made for the Aetha 😍- firesign

Well, OK, not upper mids but lower treble. They say 5-6 kHz area is too bright. Jaytiss even EQ them with -4 dBs... But, wow, I had the U12t, and with the MX is definitely not my thing. Too plain, almost no bass. I better forget about it 😅- firesign

XBass or PEQ really helps with NP bass. It is a shame that the switch doesn't do the same.- firesign

For me NP switch on doesn't fix the low end, it affects too much to low mids (until 600 Hz).- firesign

Yes, many songs I listen are like that (I only listen metal). For example: Amon Amarth - First Kill An Abstract Illusion - I'm the heavens above... Megadeth - Holy Wars... For me, Aurora has thick low mids. And everybody says Ascension has thicker low mids than Aurora... The important thing to...- firesign

Every person with Ascension that knows my taste in sound has said that Ascension won't be my thing. I don't like thick low mids, and Ascension has thick low mids. That is a instant "not for me". But I would like to try it, like the Aetha. And I have decided not to blindly buy anything else.- firesign
