Simgot IEM discussion thread.
Say, can the custom eartip filter kits for the EA500LM still be ordered on Ali Express? I find product descriptions for the kit, no problem, but none have links to actually order the product. I suspect that I may solve my issues with tip rolling, but its fun to play with new toys. I am...- originalsnuffy

Simgot IEM discussion thread.
Yes, looks like my new EA500LM will be a keeper (with some tip rolling). And right up there is the S12. The is a very fluid sound to the S12 that sometimes I desire. When I want a more rollicking time, it is going to be the EA500LM or my trusty LZ A7 (gold filter).- originalsnuffy

Simgot IEM discussion thread.
My pair of EA500LM arrived. Found that I liked them with the stock brass filters. At first I thought they were bass shy but a bit more listening and putting on some Grateful Dead and Phil was sounding mighty fine. Stones Exile sounded better than I remember with these. My treble response...- originalsnuffy

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
I am on strike with regards to ESS / Sabre. Not to say I don't have any devices with ESS; in fact probably too many. Now if I see that brand, I skip right over the product. Too clinical /sterile for my taste. I have positive vibes about CS and AKM. Haven't heard any R2R or ROHM systems.- originalsnuffy

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Based on everything I have seen, the only potential upgrade to the RU7 would be the DC-Elite. So your analysis makes sense. I know in this hobby something better inevitably comes along but my satisfaction level with the RU7 is quite high. I can't remember which HiFi journal had the survey...- originalsnuffy

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
One of the primary attractions of the Q3 was the higher powered THX amp so your idea makes sense. Then again, the idea for me was to have a great DAC and AMP in one unit. The Q3 MQA turned into a fail for me with the iphone 15 because I am a DSD fan. If FiiO had just admitted they have a...- originalsnuffy

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Taking the resampling down to 64 or 128 doesn't change the sound much but does cut power consumption. The unit does run a bit hot, but not scalding.- originalsnuffy

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Still a happy camper with this unit with the iphone 15 Pro Max. Handles DSD and PCM from my phone without issues (since the beta versions of 17.4 and since then using Neutron player). I think that the RU7 makes a meaningful improvement to the sound of my best IEMs, the LZ A7. I don't get...- originalsnuffy

Dap vs IEM upgrade
I used to argue strongly that upgrading the IEM is the way to go. Then I purchased the Cayin RU7. I'll be darned, but I think it wakes up my IEMs and they actually sound better. Especially my LZ A7 (gold filters), but even with the LetShoeur (spelling?)_ S12 there is an improvement over...- originalsnuffy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I am sure the DD HiFi cable will work. But you can buy plenty of good Lightning to USB-C cables OTG for about $20. Longer cables are harder to find but short ones are easily found. These cables are binary; either they work or they don't. Never had any issues with any of my OTG cables for...- originalsnuffy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Most likely you will need a USB C to Lightning OTG cable. Meenova makes these and I have used them with success. If you are in the US and need a longer version of this cable than normal (which are short) send me a PM. I paid for $20 each for two of them and only need one. My version is...- originalsnuffy

[FiiO Q3/Q3 MQA] THX AAA amp technology, 2.5/3.5/4.4mm Output(Good News! Our German Dealer Is Promoting Q3s from May 13 to June 13!)
Can FiiO confirm that they have successfully tested DSD files using DoP being correctly played from an iphone 15 with the Q3-MQA? That is, no PCM conversion involved but native DSD playback (which means the colors on the device change). Even with the best software, Neutron player, my device...- originalsnuffy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Those issues sound like deal killers to me. I am looking forward to more reports in the wild but this does not sound good. I am still bummed that FiiO is pretending that the Q3-MQA has no issues with DSD over DoP with the iphone 15. I guess if you ignore a problem then you don't have to fix...- originalsnuffy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I am assuming it can only play PCM from the SD card, not DSD. Would love to be wrong. Also, since it is a Shanling, will gapless work? I would love to be assured that it can handle DSD over DoP for the Iphone 15 Pro Max. My FIIO Q3-MQA can't do it; but my RU7 can.- originalsnuffy

Amazon launches Music HD with lossless streaming
So the solution to my issue with Amazon Music HD on IOS was fixed by deleting the app and reinstalling it. The downside is that my library needs to be downloaded again. However, the DAC once again is seeing above 48khz.- originalsnuffy

Amazon launches Music HD with lossless streaming
The issue with not being bit perfect is just that. I fully agree that Amazon Music HD is not bit perfect. To me it still sounds pretty close to the original. When 192khz is presented at 48 khz that is a very real issue and is a higher order issue than being bitperfect. The discussions here...- originalsnuffy

Amazon launches Music HD with lossless streaming
So here is a wonky scenario. I noticed my Amazon HD material was being limited to 24 -48 on my iphone with a Cayin RU7 dongle. I found this on the UK Amazon Music site: On iOS, disable the Alexa Wake Word feature in Settings to ensure playback through your DAC at the highest resolution. I...- originalsnuffy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I don't know much about an Honor phone. I gather it does not have circuitry to bypass Android limitations of 24 - 48. That could be an issue. Are you using a good app like UAPP (I don't have any Android devices right now but that app was very good). The fact that your dongles sound fine...- originalsnuffy
