Yes, please do not use these in the gym! I crushed a pair of cheap $49 Sony IEMs a while ago.    You just don't know what will happen... 

I'm actually comparing then to the UE900, which a mate has and the fact I wanted to buy them originally. IE80 any day. UE900 has great detail, but mids are a little too forward for me. Overall bass is too anaemic for me too. IE80 is just more engaging IMO.

I bought the Nano 7G last night, and hooked it up to my IE80. I'm confident that the music capability is slightly better than the iPhone 5.   I'll do some A/Bing later on, but seems that the IE80 just got about 10% better now. 

That's awesome. Well I'm not really a big advocate of spending $$$ on cables, but I'll give sunricky's cables a go. I like the look of the braided cables and colour, so even if I don't notice any sonic difference, at least they'll look nice.

I have a mate that owns the UE900, and I managed to score one of the grey silicone tips which are similar to the JVC tips. The UE tip only require a tiny stretch, but I must say they do sound pretty clear to me. This will definitely suffice until the JVC comes in

I might end up buying some that's for sure. Comfort would be amazing, but yeah I'm interested to know how sound would be affected as you mentioned. It should at least buy me time until the JVC's come in.   Bottom line, is that these are a keeper for sure. Sound was amazing when I used those...

IE80 cables are durable, trust me. If they are the same as the IE8, then chances are its insanely good.   The main cable looks darker than the IE8, but feel similar. I used my IE8 in the gym hardcore, and they done well. I always sanitise them every couple of days.   Oh, and you will...

How do they ruin the sound? The only ones that fit OK are the dual flange silicones, but they recess the high end making them even warmer.    I'll order the JVC ones as mentioned, but right now, its hard for me to truly enjoy the IE80 :(

Do Sony tips work well with the IE80? I'm desperate for some new tips and the bundled IE80 ones don't seal right. There is a local Sony store hence the request. Cheers

Finally received my IE80.   I have to say, they definitely look more expensive than the IE8. I absolutely love the brushed metal finish, and the cable seems to be even better with a nicer finish.   Speaking of sound, they are receiving brain burn-in right now, so I'm not gonna comment...

I'm waiting for mine to arrive tomorrow woot! I really hope they improve on the IE8, even though I loved them to death.
