Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Did you compare blindly and volume match? Set it up with a switch and an assistant nearby who changes the sources behind a curtain or something that obscures your view, so you don't which is which.- stalepie

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
I've found ASR to be a great resource for measurements and info on products so far. It can be hard to come by measurements for audio products on the web in English. I usually have to use Google Translate on foreign sites if I find anything at all because audio reviewers are so reticent to ever...- stalepie

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
It seems like high school, maybe, or middle school. But they're mostly in their 40s or older. It's funny. Most audio products sound the same. They have to. The whole point is to sound the same because that means they're accurate. And most audio products, even the very worst by Schiitt, are...- stalepie

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
The audio world is very funny to me. I'll never understand why people get so worked up about these products that all sound virtually identical to each other. They even measure virtually identically. But they place so much personal pride and ego to their purchases. Heh they get so emotional about...- stalepie

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread
Why was the V7 a lot less well known (and no longer around)? Was it a lot more expensive? I assume the 7520 is better, or I hope there has been progress- stalepie

does DAC really make alot of difference?
That's interesting the way they show it on the back of his head like that - I would think would slip off right away - but you might try different placement anyway because on-ears in particular are affected that way with bass. (If like you were leaning back on a sofa when watching a movie). The...- stalepie

does DAC really make alot of difference?
Hmm, I don't know how it works, but when I looked up the headphone it does say "SOLID BASS" in big caps as part of its title, so it might be worth checking how it compares with the same music at the same volume levels across different devices.- stalepie

does DAC really make alot of difference?
I'd think it puts out more than just the DAC-only chip, yeah. It says "easy to drive 32 ohm headphones" so I would not expect it to drive much higher ohm phones (>80) that well. That might be something that sounds just like ELE EL-d02, which is too thin and hollow sounding. I dunno. This isn't...- stalepie

does DAC really make alot of difference?
I originally was just going to PM with a much shorter message, but then I thought maybe some of the products would interest others out there. The last part suggested that some audio companies intentionally alter the sound of their devices to avoid accuracy. So I don't know how often that is done...- stalepie

does DAC really make alot of difference?
I think I got that DAC you mention, or one like it, also sold as "ELE EL-D00" https://www.ebay.com/itm/Details-about-ELE-AUDIO-EL-D00-PCM2704-MINI-USB-DAC-SOUND-CARD-GREEN/232418727141?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 That has some wrapping over it. There's also ELE...- stalepie
