When you get hum it can really rattle you. Fortunately I have no such problem. It takes the enjoyment out of a tube amp if you have to fight hum problems. For me nothing short of solid state quietness would do. I get this level of quietness with my Super Ultimate.

Probably only DecentLevi would do such a thing. I rather not use the tube if I had to wrap aluminium foil in it.

One of the top ten power tubes in Ultimate though admittedly it sound better in the KT170 amp because of the fullness of sound and more pronounced bass in the latter.

When I like c3g after owning it for 4 years it's not because the price have appreciated. It's because good sounding tubes stand the test of time. c3g is what I consider a good driver. Similarly for ECC35. I had that for GOTL and love it and sold it. This is the 2nd time with it.

I've own all my other power tubes for 2 years. I did not get GEC KT88 a week ago. It is no shame for GEC 807 to be considered lesser than GEC KT88. That is the holy grail imo and I have said that a few times. Do a search and you will see what I wrote about GEC KT88.

The true test of what you like best is a year from now after you have obtain other power tubes. The same goes with tube amps and headphones.

It’s been mentioned far too much but it’s kind of taken for granted now. My Ultimate is preamp out to my integrated amp to drive my speakers. This way I can still use my headphones on Ultimate or listen through my speakers.

Comparing Super Ultimate with the above tubes and Eric's own parafeed 300b amp. Both sound good but the 300b is better with vocals naturally. The 300b amp has 6EA7 (6EM7) drivers, EH 300b and a chinese 5z4p indirect heated rectifier.

Telefunken c3gs, RCA 6L6 and Tesla EZ81. Everything sounds good in Ultimate is true but some are better. When I first heard 6L6 metal, I find it very transparent and solid state but it doesn't seem so in Ultimate. It's not very tubey though but tight. I like it that way.

For you I would still recommend the KT170 amp. There's just that much more treble clarity and tighter bass. Good tone colour too. Should drive your speakers well. If you need more power, there's the push pull in whatever tube configurations you want. 6L6GC, EL34, KT88, KT120, KT150 or even quad...
