Cayin C9: Dual Nutube, Fully Balanced Class A/AB Portable HeadAmp
...must not play music from C9 while C9 and the DAC feeding C9 are powered by the same power source eg a common power block, as there is a common ground between the audio and charging circuits. It will create a short circuit and may damage the source. C9 will shut down and require to be...- jlemaster1957

Best low budget pcie usb card?
...point to solder the shield on that the pcie express i posted above actually ties usb cable shield to chassi (it uses the metal bracket to connect to case ground) .. so i just soldered a wire to the metal bracket and to the shield i also taped off the internal usb 3.0 connector since i wont...- Ghoostknight

That's what we have @o0genesis0o for. He likes to point out those IEMs that are weirdly tuned or out of the box tuning or off-kilter but intriguing tunings are sharing them with us.- FreeWheelinAudioLuv2

Schiit Gungnir DAC
The reason for it illudes me, but apparently shorting the inputs when off/standby is a thing that some amps do. Seems somewhat counter productive to me, as it could potentially wreak havoc on the rest of the system, but there might be a good reason for it some scenario I don’t know about. I’m...- tafens

...a minor frustration. I mean, no one wants to make an IEM that no one likes. But the market is so insanely saturated that it seems like fertile ground for bringing overdue attention to outsider tunings. Not just the unknown brands and models, but the under-appreciated voicings. I'm thinking in...- Hypops

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
From experience in using that exact scenario as rationalization (including presently), I’d suggest adding eggs, cabbage, and scallions for a little protein and greenery. Ground ginger and garlic help too.- cats4cans

AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE
I also have a 4.4mm to 4pinXLR adapter that I use for my iems when connecting to Burson Soloist 3xgt. I was wondering if the fact that the included stock cable 4.4mm only has one 2.5mm connector, if that should still work with the 4.4mm to 4pinXLR adapter? (would a dual 2.5mm to 4pinXLR be an...- mikeypas

...tip is hard-soldered to the cable. You can adapt balanced to single ended (in fact many cables are wired balanced but connected into a common ground as single-ended at the termination), but not the other way around… at least not in a simple way. A TRRS single-entry cable is enough, but if I...- Evshrug

DIY Ground Box Thread
Here is an update on adding the small clear crystal to 4 ground cables as described in yesterdays post. Has been about 27 hours or so since I applied this tweak to the ground cable. Have not touched anything since. Nice guys, is like @kenincalgary describes. A touch of warmth and sweetness...- cdacosta

ZMF Caldera Closed
They’re very different to me. I actually was comparing them at work today and was really surprised how different they are. The AC is about warmth and fullness. The CC is more about technical’ prowess and clarity. Very complimentary sets imo.- erics75

...I think it might be something else, though. I get occasional shocks from the Valkyria off the Zahl, and Spirit Torino told me it's likely a grounding issue and to try a ground box. I find minerals like Magnetite or Tourmaline not to be any use for signal or digital cables if used as wraps. I will do further experiments and see if I can improve on the recent tweak concept. My gut says it can be improved on.- cdacosta

He is referring to polarity inversion, also referred to as phase inversion. Ie. Connecting the positive wire to the negative terminal and the negative(ground) wire to the positive. This allows for the coil to respond in a way that doesnt step on the other drivers in the signal chain.- swtnate
