Thoughts/discussion on The Headphone Show & other audio-related livestreams
Compare yes, but also how? He seems to miss that part many times, unfortunately. Not always, as has been proven time and time again. Many hear imaginary differences between amps\DACs that do not exist and write about the myriad of differences which are no where to be found. But as @bigshot...- pila405

Thoughts/discussion on The Headphone Show & other audio-related livestreams
Indeed, but today you have amps which can do perfect work with whatever you throw at them, like the A30Pro I use currently. You have a huge headroom in terms of power and the noise floor is so low you can't hear any background no matter how sensitive your earphones are. Also impedance is low...- pila405

Thoughts/discussion on The Headphone Show & other audio-related livestreams
I don't know if I completely agree in this regard. I know that I bought in recent years some amps\DAcs that had various problems, not all had to do with sonic performance. But even some amps which were supposed to be good, didn't have low enough noise for very sensitive IEMs, or didn't provide...- pila405

Thoughts/discussion on The Headphone Show & other audio-related livestreams
True that many manufacturers do a half-assed job and don't provide enough information about the system they sell. But some do: https://www.tpdz.net/productinfo/645180.html https://drop.com/buy/drop-thx-aaa-789-linear-amplifier/details#details (here the THD section is indeed @1kHz, but at least...- pila405

Thoughts/discussion on The Headphone Show & other audio-related livestreams
In what context? Many provide THD vs frequency for the entire range. (20-10kHz or more), which gives a much better picture of course. Regarding Resolve's video, I find it insincere. Assuming one is provided with SINAD over a certain threshold (110db or whatever), knowing the system with which...- pila405

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
...one should really start thinking hard why should anyone pay 5000$ for a pair of headphones, let alone another 3000$ for some cables. This *is* the snake oil you mentioned. I don't have access to a pair of Abyss phi tc, but I would gladly listen given the chance to be proven otherwise. I am a...- pila405

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
Does anyone know what were the conditions in Jude's original measurements in the first post? (90db @ 1kHz? 100db?)- pila405

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
I admit I didn't, but you don't have to listen in order to know of severe deficiencies which were measured using a credible system. Just like I don't have to see a picture from a monitor if I saw a measurement of white balance showing it was completely off and had too much green, for example...- pila405

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
Do you remember whether the units only differed in the pads or whether there was something else too, like the stickers which cover part of the holes in the cups? And in Jude's measurements of the original vs. 1.1, is it with the new, firmer, ear pads?- pila405

@mrspeakers , this "old vs new" means the exact same pads, but just with the usual deterioration over time? Or does it mean the same angled ear pads, but with the new, stiffer, foam? Are these the new pads (ETHER flow angled ear pads)...- pila405

[FiiO EM5] Beryllium-coated Dynamic Driver Earbuds
@FiiO Why beryllium *plated*? Why not just make a beryllium driver? Why earbuds and not earphones for better seal? And if you use such a rigid material for the diaphragm, why there is a need for the "ribs" around? (instead of a simpler, smoother design?) -

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
Not of it removed and moving about in the box because I immediately popped it back on, but the pads look heavily used because the headphones moved so much inside and some parts of the headphones are scuffed and some coating removed- pila405

ORA GrapheneQ - The world's first Graphene driver headphone
The customer support is not responsive. I received my second pair and they arrived damaged with one of the ear-cups completely removed... The BT works well and I charged them fully and everything sounds fine, but I still think I should get what I paid for, which is a new product, not a damaged one.- pila405
