Hm, maybe a drop of MOS2 oil at the side of the screw head?

A while ago I did. The GH2 is warmer to me, the RS2x offers maybe a bit more details, and more treble overall. Did not hear them back to back recently, so I have to pass on minute differences.

THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

My Grados are easier with regard to heat, but I don’t see the Composer as problematic in any way. Yes, with summer temperatures a headphone may get uncomfortable. The K1000 and the MySphere might be the best solution…

THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

I sure would love to have a closed back Composer, no question about that. For me it doesn’t even have to be 1:1… simply a new TOTL closed back from AA would do.

As far as I know their answer was „no way, we can’t do that“. That may relate to a similarly detailed closed version, not simply a better closed back than the X60 with similar tonality to the Composer, but I don’t have high hopes…

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

I’m a bit hesitant with models that only work in very specific settings… after my sprawling tendencies a few years ago I now try to keep my collection compact. At least on the electronics side that quite works so far ;-) Would like to hear the Bokeh, but that one is not available at my store...

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

I did try several Focal models but not the Radiance. Would be interesting since I don’t like stocks in general and that onesie said to be rather different as I seem to remember. That’s the Bentley coop, isn’t it? I used to own the D9200 and quite liked it. Might get it again…

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

Yes, the one my local shop had on display. Not my cup of tea though… very strange tuning, absurdly large cups and even in the rather cold weather at that time too warm due to the also very large pads and headband. The Diana on this picture is also a strange proposition btw…

THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

I don’t log hours, but I use mine since it came out last year. Sounds as good as on the first day.

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

While I like the looks of the Liric 2 much more, the tuning of the E3 is more to my taste. Lirics bass dominates too much, and after a dip in the upper mids I hear a rather unnatural treble. The Lirics pads are small, but sufficient for my ears. Overall it has a much more manageable size, the...

    Beyerdynamic T5 (3rd Generation)

On that case it might be worthwhile to check with the original Beyerdynamic cable, just to be sure you’re having a problem of some kind with your DAP and not just with cabling, connection etc

    Beyerdynamic T5 (3rd Generation)

While I don’t know the T5 gen 3, past versions were easy to drive. There was even a coop between Beyer and A&K for a T5 version sold by A&K. Some of the A&K models I used to own did have a bit thin sound though… so maybe take a look at other manufacturers altogether. Your T5 sounds as expected...

An updated Cocobolo family photo… this RS1x is my own. Three quite different tonalities, and, interestingly, quite different shades of color as well.

As long as the amp synergy doesn’t play to the high impedance of the HD800S.

Mine looked almost like that initially, but not quite. I do still have one of those bulbs, but smaller. With mine I was lucky working it through from headphone in the direction of the connector, but since you sent it in anyway the problem might already be resolved, right?

Got a photo? Of the GS cable, just to be clear

    Grado Fan Club!

I’ve had some success with slightly bending it in all directions, a few centimeters at a time, starting at the headphone side and going to the connector end. When not used I let it hang or lie loose. The cable on the GS3000x is notably thicker, so I think the problem is more pronounced there, 12...

That’s always a very hard decision to make… What I’ve read about the White, it would not live long under my roof, but maybe that’s just me ;-)

THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

Your propositions show more interest than I’m willing to invest into a futile act. He just wants to bash a product because Nomax likes it… evading questions that would show this motivation clearly. So let’s move on. This characterization is so obviously far off what others hear in the Composer...

THE COMPOSER OPEN BACK FLAGSHIP by AUSTRIAN AUDIO

To my knowledge he never owned it, but only heard it twice. I understand when one doesn’t like a headphone on first contact, checks again, still doesn’t like it, maybe posts to that effect and moves on. But becoming obsessed with that headphone? There’s better use for one’s time I would think...

Since you're the only one who relates the Composer to a tin can, I'd suggest marking your characterizations clearly as your personal impressions, not stating them as facts.

Thin and bright is simply a mischaracterization. And yes, things can get even better.
