Havi b3 pro 1 thread 2.0
I listen to music with an unamped iPhone and Meelectronics M6's. I lost my M6's and am looking for a ~$50 replacement. I never felt compelled to go above 40% of max volume on my unamped iPhone with the M6's. Does the B3 Pro 1's whole "needs an amp" thing mean that they literally won't be loud...- Calexico

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Someone at my college is selling a used pair of Sennheiser HD485 for $30. How good of a deal is this? I have a pair of Grado SR60s. How would the two compare?- Calexico

Lets Talk Metal
Just FYI, this album is really great. For some reason "The Pecan Tree" wasn't available for streaming on Spotify initially but I heard it for the first time today and it's awesome. Spotify link: Deafheaven – Sunbather Quote: I haven't listened to much metal in my life, but in the past... -

Gatsby is supposed to be a sympathetic character because of his endless optimism. He is sophisticated but it is a forced facade to cover up his deep insecurities about his past. I think Fitzgerald wants us to think of Gatsby as possessing deep integrity. After all, he waited 5 years to realize...- Calexico

Spring Breakers is essential for every teenager and young adult living in America IMO, especially college students. I know my mini review looks really pretentious but I honestly mean what I said. 10/10 T10 Spring Breakers (2013) - May 27, 2013 "The best movie I've seen in years...- Calexico

Supporting Musicians & My Personal Dilemma
I go to concerts pretty often, and have occasionally picked up music there. Do they get much more money if you buy their music at concerts? Quote: So I asked one of my favorite artists, John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats about this on Twitter. He posted a great response on...- Calexico

Supporting Musicians & My Personal Dilemma
I torrent most of my music. But I want to start buying music since I understand that it's important to support the artists that I like. So I see my options as A) MP3s, B) CDs, C) LPs. Benefits of A: Reduce physical waste. Benefits of B: I don't really see any. Benefits of C...- Calexico

Help Identifying Song
I was listening to Bruce Springsteen's song "My Father's House" when I heard this lyric: "She said 'I'm sorry son but no one by that name lives here anymore'" I swear I've heard this line somewhere else before. Most likely in another song, as an allusion to Springsteen's song. Any... -

Ok, these guys are basically awesome. The Monitor is among the top tier of albums released in the past 5 years (imho of course), and I've been listening to Local Business this past week or so and it has some pretty great songs too (nowhere near as strong as The Monitor as a full album though)...- Calexico

Grizzly Man - 8/10 Really liked it. Werner Herzog's directorial style has struck me as very egotistic in other films, but he thankfully kept his annoying personality mostly out of this film and allowed the film's subject, Timothy Treadwell, to be the genuine focus, something for which I am...- Calexico

I agree about Prometheus. Basically rubbish. Encounters at the End of the World - 7/10 I don't like Werner Herzog's directorial style and personality. I feel like it is manipulative and heavy-handed. However, I have always been attracted to Antarctica and its many wonders, so watching...- Calexico

What book are you reading right now?
Just finished reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I really enjoyed the mystery elements of the book and the philosophical/spiritual themes that dominate. The prose is nothing special in my opinion but the story and themes are captivating. An easy read. Highly recommended...- Calexico

Focker, I watched this on Thursday as promised by never got around to writing up a review. Here it is now! Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) - 7/10 Corny, but sweet and funny. A nice world where nothing truly bad ever happens, and everyone is best friends. I especially liked Philip...- Calexico

What book are you reading right now?
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami Pretty interesting themes on identity, loneliness, and existence. The prose is not so great, but it's translated so I guess that's not a surprise. I'm about 2/3 through. Previously read Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov: Strongly recommended!- Calexico

Quote: Thanks :) Minority Report - 7/10 The overly bright, sci-fi/futuristic-styled visuals look tacky, but I really liked the story. I haven't seen many movies with Tom Cruise or Colin Farrell, but they were both pretty good in this. Nice soundtrack too. Really a very solid movie.- Calexico
