Holo Audio Bliss
Okay I've had the Bliss connected for a few hours. It's a used unit so it's already burnt in, if someone's concerned about it. The unit runs very warm after few hours but that's probably no news in this thread. Early impressions with DCA E3's is that Bliss is quite an easy sounding headphone...- Patu

I certainly hope that the Output button on the remote toggles between the outputs, which are Lo-Z, Hi-Z and Line (preamp output). Otherwise I think you need to use the menu.- Patu

Holo Audio Bliss
Well if Bliss preamp is on the same level as Serene, I can lose one box from the equipment rack, which is quite full now. Let's see and hear how it sounds. EDIT: After reading your post a few times, I still don't understand why would anyone preamp Bliss or Woo Wa22, since they both are preamps...- Patu

Holo Audio Bliss
So I finally found one Bliss KTE used and luckily here in Finland. Will be getting it tomorrow or day after tomorrow. I can finally answer my own question about the Bliss preamp output and if it's on the same level with Serene. Of course it would be nice if the headphone outputs are reference...- Patu

HQPlayer Impressions and Settings Rolling Thread
My server isn’t beefy enough to run DSD512 with correction on, so no comment on that. But yeah, it’s always about system synergy and matching. I have quite a revealing setup so it doesn’t hurt to have a slight touch of warmth or smoothness through source.- Patu

I have DAC200 and currently run it DSD512. DSD256 is also very good and I can run it with the DAC correction on. But the correction does make the sound slightly edgier. It does sound more hifi and probably objectively better but now I’ve been preferring to run DSD512 without correction. It’s...- Patu

Because DSD, used with a proper DAC with a DSD direct support, not only is objectively better but also sounds better. And yes, NOS PCM can also sound good but for example with Spring 3, which I owned before DAC200, DSD was still better. With DAC200 it’s even clearer. Your experience with...- Patu

Doesn’t it convert everything back to PCM? So it’s not true/direct DSD.- Patu

Experiment with multicore optimisation setting (under advanced tab). Have it either greyed or checked. For me, checked works better with less skipping if the load is on the heavier side.- Patu

M1 should be able to run DSD256x48. For Spring 3 you should adjust DAC bits to 20 and you should check 48k DSD. From output select SDM for DSD and if you want to output PCM, then PCM obv. Then just experiment with different filters and modulators. Default poly-sinc-gauss filter family is very...- Patu

So you’d say Bliss is brighter than V222? Can you give any more detail on how these two compare? Which one did you prefer?- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Exactly, nobody has said anything like this. Off the shelf… lol. You’re missing the point. HQP, paired with a proper DAC like T+A or Holo, objectively observed, outperforms Chord and its ”million tap filters”. HQP running on a dedicated high power server simply has so much more computing power...- Patu

Violectric V222 and V202
Mogami 2549 is a good basic cable. I liked Belden 8402 better though and it’s not expensive either. I still own one pair.- Patu

Violectric V222 and V202
You can only tell by trying the cables in your own setup. I’ve experimented with around dozen different xlr-cables in the past few years on my speaker rig. You can finetune the sound by simply changing the cables. I’ve experienced sibilant and hard sound from the same rig which sounds completely...- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I was only talking about filters (and modulators, which affect SQ to same extent). HW side is not relevant here. HQP works with various different HW (just use a poweful enough server and choose from a list of DACs) so it’s not a fair comparison for Chord. But this is completely offtopic so I’ll...- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Objectively speaking, HQP is superior and far more capable. There’s even a filter which closely mimics or is same than what Chord uses. So if you like Chord’s choice of filter, you have it with HQP and so much more. But yeah, MScaler is certainly an easier choice.- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
My wild guess is that your iDSD Micro Signature lacks the capability to drive the E3 properly. Just like they sound only good/very good with my FiiO K7 but truly spectacular with my T+A DAC200 + Violectric V226.- Patu
