For 6AS7G tube rollers here .....

My initial impression of the K-R Tubes' 6AS7G (RCA) leaned towards a bright, clear sound (not in a negative sense). After a few days it mellowed and approached the sound of the original RCAs, placing itself among the best of them. Still with its own character. I like it and will let it play for...

Yes, I figured that much. What I am interested in is if they were a well-known player on the market, if they sold to trade or retail/consumer. And what about the abbreviation- not Ken-Rad to be sure. I'll try it in my amp tomorrow but I guess it needs a few days of burn-in, brand new out of the...

Referring to my question of when RCA switched from one digit yearcode to two, gibosi answered it earlier in this thread. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/for-6as7g-tube-rollers-here.410326/page-438#post-16021091

Selling a pair of the rare Reflektor 6N26P NOS, equivalent to 5670/2C51 but with twice the power capability. This tube type is used by Schiit and iFi among many others. Draws a little more heater current but that won't be a problem for most good headphone amps. The Reflektor 6N26P is a military...

It's not unusual that manufacturers famous for one line of products also make money on somewhat unexpected merchandise. I guess the two inventions above brought them income from production, licensing fees etc. As for the Tung-Sol 5998 I mentioned earlier, there is also number on the base, 609...

Thanks Mordy. The first tube in my previous post (1949) also has this print: A third example: And a fourth, this one made at the NJ plant for HP: I wonder when they switched from one- to two-digit year designation.

Have a handful of the trusty old RCA 6AS7G but have not been able to definitely crack the date codes. Here are two examples. The first may seem easy to decode, but numbers can be deceptive. This has the old RCA logotype and bottom getter. The second one is a bit trickier. Later production...

Constant Current Source. Check internet. It's also the acronym of Collective Consciousness Society, a big band with Alexis Corner on vocals, who made some notable albums in the 1970s. Try their debut:

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

The AJCCS is of course an OTL amp. Those are the mains transformers, one for the heater and one for the high voltage. A single mains transformer can be custom made (and is on order), less space and possible hum problems but higher cost. May be available out there as well, secondary 6,3V and 125V AC.

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

As a few people have messaged me and shown interest in the Audiotailor CCS amp, I'd like to explain the background of the project in a few words. After living with and appreciating the original Audiotailor Jade for quite a few years, we realized there was a potential in the basic design that...

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

Well, you seem to have built a mighty fine adapter, your impression of the balanced sound from the Audiotailor Jade certainly points in that direction. The most important thing with DIY is having fun, trying new solutions and enjoying the results.

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

A NEW TAKE ON AUDIOTAILOR JADE For quite a few years, I’ve had the idea of developing/modernising the original Audiotailor Jade circuit, just because it’s such a good and enjoyable amp. A deceptively simple yet very clever design making the most of the few components involved. The man behind...

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

That's correct. And it doesn't matter in which jack you connect the TRS 1/4" plugs, the only thing is absolute phase changes when you switch output between them. Which might be interesting to check for those who are so inclined.

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

It's not so easy to use existing adapters. You need a Y-split, or even better - and simpler - a braided balanced cable where you can just connect the four leads to a four-pin XLR (or whichever plug/jack you have, Pentaconn/TRRS 3,5mm etc) according to the sketch below. Normal connection for...

REVIEW: Audiotailor “Jade” Vacuum Tube Headphone Amplifier

An unusual tube combination that I haven't tried before. Initial impressions are quite positive. This is the first 6AS7GA that I've ever tried, the smallest type in the 6AS7G/6080 family. Its sonic reputation is far from illustrious, but to my ears it sounds fine. The small T12 bulb makes it...

This is a living legend of a product, kudos to the man who invented it (forgot his name). Gilbert Briggs and Wharfedale made several groundbreaking inventions, including the metal blade cone suspension.
