Yeah, my ears get sweaty and irritated when using tips, no matter how comfortable the fit is. I see it as a blessing though, just like my size 12 feet. 'Narrows down options and makes shopping easy. :D I feel for you, man. I think it's a must to go with brands that have impeccable customer...

‘Funny you say that. I shattered my 2nd ever pair of customs a month after getting them. :D Ended up getting them repaired for a very low price, though (shoutout Lime Ears), and they’re good to this day. 😁 ‘Funny you say that as well. The 622B has been terrible in terms of CIEM variance. I know...

I’m 26, and the customs I was referring to were made when I was 18, so you can say I’m pretty lucky, I guess. (Or, we’ll see when I get to my 30’s). 😁 The problem with custom tips is that they’ll usually push the universals quite a bit outside the ear. Customs have curvy ends, while universals...

I have customs that are 8 years old, made when I was 20kg heavier. They still fit perfectly fine.

The funny thing is, you can't buy the DC Ti in Japan without a residency card. You'll have to buy it through Jaben SG or Jaben HK at "international pricing," which is around 1.5x what it costs in Japan.

Looking forward to it! 😁 I’ve never had a source with crossfeed functionality (until very recently in the Hugo2), so I can’t say, really. I assume crossfeed on top of crossfeed would just make it worse..? 😄 The BCD is a driver like any other, so it can definitely be tuned up or down. There are...

I’ve enjoyed BCDs most in the midrange, myself. As far as what effects you’ll hear, it depends on how much of the FR the driver augments. Full-range BCDs affect imaging greatly. It can push instruments to seemingly different physical planes than others. I listened to an Incognito record on the...

And, that's perfectly fair. Every time I write one of these posts, I always reread it and question it myself multiple times to make sure I really believe in what I'm saying. There have been occasions where, in that process, I've ended up reconsidering and changing some of my own stances. I also...

Well, for the cymbal example, it would fall into the category of "how heavy they’re carved out to be (in timbre) by their respective drivers," from my earlier post. Of course, notes in the treble have their own weights too, but it's not a treble peak or treble dip that's affecting their weight...

My rule-of-thumb when it comes to defining audio terms is to try, as much as possible, to make it easy to picture and understand. So, hearing the words “note weight,” what comes to mind 90% of the time? It’s the literal, perceived weight of the note. And, for me, that’s defined by the low-end of...

That was before their big renovation. Their CIEM store is on the 7th floor of their main store building now. I’m pretty sure that side shop is still used for a couple of brands, though.

I'm sure there are, but you'll have to check whether or not they have their audiophile products there. The JustEar CIEMs are the ones worth visiting Japan for. I went to a Sony store in Tokyo that specialized in JustEar in 2018 or something. I don't know whether or not it still exists, or if...

Check out e-earphone, then Fujiya Avic in Tokyo. There’s an e-earphone in Osaka as well, but they have a much narrower selection of demo units. They’re more for checking out second-hand products, which Japan have a great deal of. See if you can visit Van Nuys’ HQ as well, and the Sony store in...

Oh, you meant holography in a sense of note tactility. I just read your initial post again, and I realized I skipped over the first line being the mid-bass’ role in the volume of objects in a stage. My bad. So, yeah, mid-bass is crucial in adding thickness, body and weight to notes. I mentioned...

The Eminent Ears Appreciation & Impressions Thread - starting with The Ruby

Eminent Ears Ruby Courtesy of Travis at Emiment Ears and @metaljem77 (who kindly arranged this tour), I’ve been given the opportunity to listen to the Ruby; Eminent’s flagship tri-brid, retailing at $2300. It’s a 1 DD, 4 BA and 4 EST set-up from the Hong Kong brand, and it was quite the sleeper...

Mid-bass doesn’t determine a stage’s size, but it does determine how much space on that stage is taken up. Mid-bass notes are dark and smoky, which, when elevated, can put a veil over details higher up, or muddy the background behind them. If you picture the night sky in a dark area vs. a place...

If it's the same as the one in the Novus, then this isn't the Weapon X BCD. It's the Sonion one, which Canpur used in their 622B, among others. The BCDs in the Novus are full-range AFAIK.

As a fellow reviewer, I deeply sympathize with what Cameron and the Headphones.com team are going through here. I wish them all the best in whatever happens next. And, to honor the pinned comment on that video, let's just say that I'm infinitely more grateful now of every single brand rep I've...

Based on some rudimentary Japanese I quickly learned from e-earphone's website ( ), it looks like it's a 4-driver IEM with 1x DD, 1x BCD and 2x EST.

My condolences for your loss, my friend. Perhaps, CanJam could take your mind off things and help you find closure before the funeral. But, it'll also be there next year, if you choose to skip it. Family (blood or otherwise) always comes first.

Yeah, when I heard it at CanJam SG, it basically came across as an IEM that did the fundamentals well - a balanced tuning, flagship-worthy technique, etc. - but didn't really have anything special or unique going for it. It lacked any sort of emotion or sauce for me, especially in the midrange...
