    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

I think if people stopped listening to other's tell them what their gear should sound like, a lot more people would be happy with what they have. When I choose to buy any gear, it's never because someone told me what I needed, it's because I researched and found out on my own what was...

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

It's not balanced. If it were, it would have XLR outputs. Not a big deal, just a curiosity. My Rotel doesn't have XLR outs. And if I get the Teac VRDS-701T (CD Transport), number 1 on my list, it doesn't have XLR outs either. Yeah, I looked at that Shanling ET3 as it was getting a lot of...

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

Thank you. Yeah, I'm playing with both the Supra LoRad silver and copper-based power cords in my system. I have 3 cords in the system - 2 copper-based cords, one silver cord. I've found if I place the both the copper-based cords on the DAC and headphone amp, silver cords on the CD player, I...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Can't believe I'm seeing this obscure album posted here. I have that CD and my favs on it are Inhaler, and the Issac Hayes sampled Walk On by (YouTube) in Wicky. Also, like Plus Profond.

So, you say. And I don't see a slight either, I simply disagree. Sorry, that hurts your sense of being  Movin on :dark_sunglasses:

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

Quality cables help... ⇣⇣⇣⇣⇣ And yes... DDC = Digital to Digital Converter. And for clarity, I never said my FLAC files sounded bad, in fact, they sound even better with the DDC added, it's just I get a different sound when playing the CDs themselves. They're kind of slightly less...

Post A Photograph Of Your Turntable

This was taken some 20+ years ago. It was actually the very first photo I ever sold (I'm an armature photographer). One of my co-workers saw it and wanted two, one for her, and one for her mother. Little did she know she would inspire me to sell many more of my photos. Any this is called Music...

    Post Your Video Game Screenshots!

Nice pics played both those games. Also, a huge fan of both, and especially the Dragon Age series. Played all the game. Waiting for Dragen Age 4 to release. As Well as Mass Effect 4, my favorite game series of all time. Currently not playing anything as I'm thinking about doing a new system...

Love the simplicity of that setup. I'm sure it sounds awesome (LOL - my wife hates me saying that word :relaxed:). Great looking system

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

Luck for me, I'm not concerned with your opinion on how I run my system. I won't tell you how to spend your money, cause you're not telling me how to spend mine. Again, you do you. I'll do me. Movin on :sunglasses:

You got it... partially as there are no "WAV" files. I should know considering I ripped the CDs myself as told in the link I posted  Cheers! :sunglasses:

Certainly "your" opinion. Mine says otherwise and why "I" need a CD player/transport. But that's "me" :sunglasses:

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

My experience is quite the opposite. And trust me, my FLAC rips are high quality rips - my thread. As for CD playing, source material matters - If the CD is of bad sound quality, so will the sound coming out the audio gear. As a music collector, I own a lot of quality sounding CDs (aka...

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

PC to Denafrips Iris DDC using a Supra Excalibur USB cable. Iris to DAC using a Supra HDMI (I2S) cable. This the Iris (top).... BTW, the Iris is also feeding the Teac UD-503 DAC/HPA via S/PDIF (coaxial) cable. Meaning the Iris is feeding both my DACs.

Confused by the cost of CD Transports

I have a Rotel RCD-1072 CD player I purchased in 2004 (it's been packed away a few years so not a huge amount of play time). Anyway, I have it connected to my Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1 DAC via S/PDIF (coaxial) cable (so "transport" mode). The DAC feeds into my Denafrips Artemis headphone amp...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

The beauty of having my entire CD collection (2800) ripped to my NAS is I can easily browse it in a media player such as JRiver Media Center. So, while looking around for something to play I came across this beauty I forgot about - Fourth World - Fourth World (B&W 1993). Latin jazz; Jazz fusion...

    Denafrips Venus 2 & 12th anniversary edition

Good luck on the new setup. Nothing like the enjoyment of unboxing new gear. Oh, and trust me... cables matters. I wasn't a believer until I heard. This is where "cost of ownership" comes into play - those things needed to support your new gear :relaxed: BTW, took a serious look at that Nimbus...

Denafrips 'Pontus' R2R ladder DAC - close up view

What he said.... Tighten up as in provide more upper range while toning down the bottom a little. In effect making the amp a little brighter. I added a Supra LoRad copper power-cord to my Pontus 12th-1 and bass notes became less "fluffy" and harder hitting. With the silver Supra LoRad power...

    Denafrips Venus 2 & 12th anniversary edition

I'm not sure how anyone can fully answer that question unless they've heard a bucket load of amps. Instead of listening to some of the naysayers here, I suggest you check out the myriad of video reviews on Denafrips's DACs and see what's what, so that when you hear some of the noise here, you...

    cd player recommendations

Yeah. but my post was about what "I" was also interested in. And just as I knew it was a Teac, I also know it's a transport, and why I linked to that one :relaxed: All good

Well unless Teac was bought out by Technics, the link I provided clearly says "Teac". The online retailers I visited for price such as Moon Audio, clearly state "Teac"
