    Shure AONIC 50 -

Burn-in isn't all psychological. For sources, it can make a difference at the level of the performance of the electrical components, and for transducers it can make a difference with the physical characteristics of the materials. Varies by item, of course. But when manufacturers like Sony...

    Shure AONIC 50 -

Another Shure customer service reply - within hours - to a question about the cable: "It should be fine to use a 2.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS cable with no risk of damage to the headphones. I'm not exactly sure why the 2.5mm TRRS plug was used, as there is no connection on the Sleeve of the 2.5mm...

    Shure AONIC 50 -

It's probably helpful to all of us if we contact Shure with suggestions for firmware updates. I just asked for smaller volume jumps and a better equalizer with settings that can be saved to the headset and not be limited to the iOS app playing music. The former is something they ought to be able...

    Audio-Technica ATH-WP900

I love the Clear and the WP900. The clarity (no pun intended) that's common to both is great. The Clear is used on my desk with my Oppo DAC/amp, and the WP900 with my Sony WM1A.

    Audio-Technica ATH-WP900

Elegia reviews are quite mixed, with various people remarking on the lack of bass response, plus many comments about the build quality of the headband adjusters leaving marks from use. I'm a Focal Clear user, so I was quite disappointed in what I read about them, and one reason I went for the WP900.

    Shure AONIC 50 -

My AONIC 50 was delivered today. The Bluetooth pairings with my Mac, iPhone, AppleTV, and Sony WM1A were instantaneous. The firmware update via the Shure app was also immediate in starting and took about 15 minutes via a gigabit connection. I was able to set the Mac to use AptX codec, too, and...

They get better with burn-in...:gs1000smile: And better cables help, too.

    Audio-Technica ATH-WP900

The imaging is precise and the detail is stunning. I hear things in recordings that I hadn't heard before, but not quite at the level of the Clear, though. I have never heard the ATH-MSR7b. The WP900 is extremely comfortable all around; no hotspots on my head or ears. If you like the...

    Audio-Technica ATH-AWKT Announcement Thread

With the W1000, many of us used scuba tubing, cut to size and joined in a loop to go inside the pad to make it stand away a bit.

    Audio-Technica ATH-WP900

Glad you like them, T.R.A.N.C.E. I found they got better after burn-in (100 hours minimum) and sound best when run balanced via the 4.4mm Pentaconn out of my Sony NW-WM1A (which was what I wanted to pair it with) or via a 4-pin XLR (adapter or custom cable) to my Oppo HA-1. Bass gets deeper...

    SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A

Both are used. First Deoxit to clean and then Gold to preserve and prevent further oxidation. There are other dispensers: bottles and pens are easy to use.

    Audio technica ath-wp900

I bought an upgraded A-T cable with a 4.4mm pentacon. But the ATH-WP900 comes with two cables - balanced pentacon and unbalanced 3.5mm. HDC114A/1.2

    Audio technica ath-wp900

I love mine. Work great out of the Sony NW-WM1a (balanced) and my Oppo HA-1 (balanced). Incredibly comfortable, gorgeous midrange (female vocals are phenomenal, which is an AT trait), excellent highs, and fast tight bass. Bass is not as good as my Focal Clears, but that's a different category of...

    Audio-Technica ATH-WP900

They come with a bag, which you can see the edge of in the photo below, not a hard shell case. But I had a GoCase that fits them perfectly (although I have to put something between the earpieces so they don't touch). I have an AT upgraded balanced cable that fits in that little compartment .

    Audio-Technica ATH-WP900

Brief report: detailed, comfortable, clear highs, gorgeous midrange, fast bass. Great portable closed headphone. I run mine balanced from my Sony NW-WM1A.
