Yeah. If this device had a remote control, that would have pushed it over the line for me as being useable as an integrated amp. That said, you're not wrong. There are plenty of integrated amps that don't have remote controls…especially in the previous century.

Not a hardware issue, but it could be a software limitation. I use both USB and S/PDIF all of the time from within Roon. That functionality may not be available for other use cases.

Sounds like you may have a bad 9V power supply. Do you have a voltmeter you can use to check? @Sebastien Chiu and @iFi audio have been great at helping folks if they find that the provided power supply is defective.
